Today we're looking at something new to the Relyon line-up and one that is yet to be reviewed by other customers. Don't let the lack of reviews put you off however, Relyon have plenty of clout in the industry and know their way around mattresses. The 650 designator in the name comes from the open coil traditional spring quantity which we be looking at in more detail further down.
Let's unpack this and start with the support layer. The support layer is the area that typically features the springs, but occasionally can feature a foam layer. It it the area which helps protect your back and spine, providing the support necessary to enjoy a good night's sleep. While support can relate to comfort, it is more about contouring to your body and ensure you do not wake up in pain. The traditional spring system is sufficient and features a medium tension. What I like about the medium tension here is that it will largely suit most people regardless of the position you sleep in nor you or your partner's weight. There are exceptions to this obviously, overweight or underweight should consider perhaps a softer or firmer option, but generally this is considered the goldilocks of comforts and the sweet spot.
Onto the comfort layer and you get a quality plush, pillow-soft quilting over the top to protect you against the springs beneath and to provide an extra taste of luxury. combined with this you have soft white fibre fillings that are also wonderfully comfy relative to the price point and one that should work well with the open coil springs.
Finally you have the smooth knitted cover that is both soft and durable. The combination will ensure that your mattress remains protected. You also have turning handles as part of this cover and while you do not need to flip the mattress, you should still rotate it head to toe in order to help with settlement and prevent dipping over its lifespan.
Reasons to Buy
The Comfort Pure 650 Mattress by Relyon is a part of their Comfort Collection. Designed to offer a medium level of comfort, this mattress is not too soft, but not too firm. The double layer of open coil springs gives double the comfort and support, ensuring that you get the best night's sleep. The mattress features an easy to clean and easy to move with white knitted cover.
You also get a 5 year guarantee which is pretty amazing given the low price point. Relyon clearly have a lot of confidence in the makeup of this product and that should instill further confidence in it. Ultimately, this is a mid-range mattress at a fairly budget price point and well worth a consideration.
Reasons to Avoid
A single sided mattress has the benefit of not needing to be flipped. However, the downside to this is that you only have one side of fillings which may slightly reduce the lifespan of the mattress. After all, when both sides have comfort layers you an maximise double the surface area on which you sleep. That said, you do get better value in initial costs as you are paying for less luxury materials so it does even itself out.
The only other stand out negative in this mattress would be around the spring system. While perfectly suitable for the majority of people, open coil traditional spring is beaten in most scenarios by the pocket spring support layers in more expensive mattresses. However, it all comes down to value, this mattress will largely be suitable for most people and at the price point there is simply no way to feature a pocket spring layer as an alternate.
