Why our sleep experts loved it
A backcare-oriented mattress like the Fleurette is designed to provide support and relief for people with back pain, joint pain, and other aches and pains (although as the name suggests it is mainly targeting backcare). This type of mattress can be especially beneficial for people who suffer from insomnia because of pain and has a few key benefits over a traditional mattress. See, a traditional mattress may be too soft or too firm for people with aches and pains, making it difficult to fall asleep and stay asleep while a backcare mattress like the Fleurette is designed with a combination of comfort and firm support in mind, making it easier for people to get the rest they need. Backcare mattresses are available in a wide range of configurations, sizes, and styles but typically always hover around the firmer side of tension.
So who exactly will benefit from a mattress like this? Mainly those who sleep on their stomach or back primarily and who are currently looking for additional help and support with their back. The firmer tension comes from the support layer beneath which, in this case, is a premium pocket spring support layer typically found in higher priced products. The result is a mattress that punches above its price-class while offering great value for those who are looking to invest in a product tailored to their back care.
This brings us neatly on to who the mattress would not suit. The Fleurette is not made with side sleepers in mind evidenced by both its backcare name and the tension of the springs. This is due to the fact that your hip and shoulders stick out from you and without adequate sinkage you end up rolling your shoulder rather than sinking into the mattress, causing more pain and discomfort and creating poorer quality sleep. To reiterate, this is a backcare mattress that is designed to assist in this area.
We touched previously on where this mattress competes in the industry and against its competitors and I would say this product fits into the budget price band (at time of writing a double mattress is coming in at mid £3XX figures). This price band typically comes with sacrifices but we’re struggling to see them. See, the support layer is already premium in the pocket springs offered. The comfort layer too, is double sided and features two different sides with two different comforts, premium wool for staying cool (it’s really breathable) on one side and environmentally friendly recyclable fillings for staying warm on the other. While the GSM depth of these fillings is not disclosed, it’s clear there’s big value for money here.
So what of the firmness and its ranked value? We judge mattresses for their tension between 1 and 10, with 1 being very soft and 10 being very firm. For the Fleurette we would rate it a 8. We’ve definitely seen firmer mattresses which brings that number down a bit, but it’s also definitely not a medium tension that commands a 5. The product is a bit too firm for side sleepers and so that’s why we would push it to an 8.
Customer feedback is non-existent as of right now as the product only got released last week (at time of writing), it means that we won’t see long term reviews for some time. However, do not let this put you off as Bensons for Beds have been long in the industry with a proven track record for offering consistently good quality products. Same too with the configurations on offer. What is more, you get a 5 year guarantee for the ultimate piece of mind.
