Why our sleep experts loved it

becky says

The Dreams Mason Rolled Mattress is a new product from Dreams that aims to provide a high-quality, budget-friendly option for those in need of a new mattress. With a firm comfort grade and traditional open spring design, this mattress is perfect for those who prefer a supportive sleeping surface and sleep predominantly on their back or stomach. Interested to find out more? Let's dive into the specifics.

Starting with the base layer of this single sided mattress is its 288 traditional springs. These hourglass-shaped Bonnell springs mold to the contours of your body, providing consistent support throughout the night. This makes the Mason a great option for those who suffer from back or joint pain, as the firmness of the mattress can help alleviate pressure on these areas. We're not going to say the Bonnell springs will change your life, ultimately they serve a purpose in the budget segment and, thanks to their firmness, can solve some problems around pain. We would naturally still prefer higher quality pocket springs, but the price point wouldn't allow for it.

In addition to its supportive spring system, the Mason also features a comfort layer of recycled fibres. We've dealt with these fairly nondescript fibres in the past on a few different models from the retailer and they generally do a good enough job of ensuring a fair degree of comfort for the average weighted person. Children and those with a lighter frame will be the real winners from this comfort layer, as it's just about deep enough to disguise the springs beneath while you sleep. That said, those with a higher BMI than average should consider spending a little bit more and getting something with a deeper comfort layer.

On the outside of the mattress, you are protected from the innards with a soft touch knitted cover. This cover adds a layer of comfort and luxury to the mattress, making it an inviting bedtime companion that is also fairly breathable, helping to prevent heat build up and retention.

The Mason mattress is also handcrafted in the UK, ensuring that it is made to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship and also comes with a 40-Night Sleep Guarantee, allowing you to try it out for yourself and see if it is the right fit for you. Pair this with a 5-year manufacturer's guarantee and you can rest easy knowing that your sleep is protected for years to come. This is interesting for one core reason that will otherwise go unnoticed to most people, but the product is one of the first in the entire lineup to feature a longer guarantee. We suspect this is perhaps the start of the manufacturer adopting a more consumer-positive mindset around problems experienced down the line.

In terms of who the Mason mattress might suit, it is an ideal option for those looking for a firm, supportive sleeping surface. This makes it a great option for back sleepers as well as stomach sleepers, including those who suffer from back or joint pain on a budget. However, it may not be the best choice for side sleepers or those who will need a bit more sinkage for the hip and shoulder as you rest.

Overall, the Dreams Mason Rolled Mattress is a great option for those looking for those on quite a tight budget. Its firm comfort grade and traditional open spring design, as well as its soft touch knitted cover and handcrafted construction, make it a great choice for a wide range of sleepers that are average or lighter BMI. Heavier sleepers should consider something with a deeper comfort layer would be my advise, although it will do in a pinch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the Dreams Mason Rolled Mattress compare to other budget-friendly mattresses on the market?

A: The Mason mattress stands out from other budget-friendly options with its firm comfort grade and traditional open spring design, as well as its soft touch knitted cover and handcrafted construction. Most others at this price point are normally just a slab of reflex foam whereas this is a genuine budget mattress.

Q: Is the Dreams Mason Rolled Mattress suitable for people who suffer from back or joint pain?

A: Yes, the firmness of the Mason mattress and its traditional open spring design can help alleviate pressure on these areas, making it a great option for those who suffer from back or joint pain. Although, while I am repeating myself, I wouldn't recommend it for heavier individuals as the comfort layer is quite thin.

Q: Can the cover of the Dreams Mason Rolled Mattress be removed and washed?

A: No, the cover is not removable and will not be able to be washed, there are plenty of solutions in our Sleep Advice blog which can help you when it comes to keeping this style of mattress clean.

Q: Does the Dreams Mason Rolled Mattress come with a warranty?

A: Yes, the Mason mattress comes with a 5-year manufacturer's guarantee, allowing you to rest easy knowing that your investment will stand the test of time.

In conclusion, the Dreams Mason Rolled Mattress is a great option for those in need of a new mattress with a strict spending criteria. Its firm comfort grade will suit back and stomach sleepers while the addition of the new 5 year guarantee from Dreams is certainly a welcome one. Ideally suited for kids while also accommodating average and below average BMI adults.

We bought one for our 10yo son & he loves it. Great price, easy to carry home (rolled up). May not be great for older teens or adults as feels a bit lightweight and springy. Wouldnt expect to be using the same matress when he gets that old anyway so this fits the bill perfectly.
