The Country Living Haldon Mattress is a product from the new Country Living brand which aims to tackle the upper quality segment currently dominated by the likes of Feather & Black, Dunlopillo and Tempur. The new Haldon mattress certainly has plenty of interesting features so let's break them down by segment and see what has appeal.
Let's start with the base layer, that's the bottom part of the mattress and the bit that gives the product the support necessary for your joints to have measured and contoured relief. In the Haldon you get an impressive 2100 pocket springs (in the super king size then reducing depending on size), these pocket springs are easily one of the better performing support layers that money can buy having consistently beaten reflex foam and open coil springs to offer better zoned support that contours to your body giving relief where you need it regardless of sleeping position.
The tension of these springs is variable, giving you the opportunity to choose between a medium or firm tension, of which your preference will generally be dictated by body type, size and how you sleep. We typically recommend medium as a one-size-fits-all approach however you may want to consider the firm variant if you are of a larger build, or need additional firmness due to specific back and neck requirements. Regardless of the tension chosen, the pocket springs have fantastic edge to edge support with great roll together prevention allowing an independent and unrivalled sleep solution.
Onto the comfort layer and in keeping with its price point you receive a deep and generous layer of wool fillings that prove to be supremely soft and breathable. The breathability of the wool mates excellently with the pocket springs to generate airflow through the mattress which will help regulate body temperature and keep you cool. The result is a great all season mattress that is suitable for all times of the year, allowing you to sleep deeper and for longer. Additional benefits to that comfort layer of wool also lie in its softness which when paired with your choice of firmness in the base layer, will work hand in hand to deliver an experience that is good for your back and overall body while also feeling like you are sleeping on a soft cloud of comfort, it's great.
How does it feel?
Firmness of The Country Living Haldon Mattress depends on bodyweight. Adjust your weight below to get an indication of how it may feel. Remember though that firmness is entirely subjective.
Reasons to Buy
They don't make mattresses like this anymore, this really is built from exquisite materials that will deliver a quality nights sleep day after day.
The wool is actually hand-teased lambswool which is extra soft and stretchy and finds an ideal placement in a mattress. Typically not used in mattresses due to the higher cost, however, this is a no-compromise product that chooses only the best.
The pocket springs offer fantastic body contouring support, its my favourite personal support layer and one that always performs well.
Reasons to Avoid
Price point is very steep and will alienate most of the market. The niche status of this mattress doesn't make it a bad buy however and for those looking for the best nights sleep without compromise, there's a lot of quality that justifies the price.
Lead time currently in excess of 3 months due to the hand built nature of the product, understandable since these aren't mattresses that are kept on a rack, however perhaps inconvenient for those that are looking for a mattress sooner rather than later.
