The Sleep Essentials range from Dreams are a fairly new selection of products to market that are aimed at competing directly with many of the overly expensive bed-in-a-box suppliers now popping up in the UK. Much of the core offering of these bed-in-a-box mattresses (Eve, Otty, Nectar) is the marketing around comfort and practicality. Reassuringly, the Sleep Essentials Series Two Mattress delivers in both these regards.
The Sleep Essentials Series Two is a rolled mattress, that means that it can be carried up stairs without issue and be transported far easier allowing some of those cost savings to be passed on to you. This is becoming an increasingly common manufacturing method that works for both the consumer and the retailer.
The tension of this mattress is rated as medium, that means that it is going to largely be suitable for most people, it is the middle-of-the-road safe choice when purchasing a mattress online and is my personally recommended favourite tension.
The soft touch cover is knitted and is both breathable and comfortable offering a more premium feel than the product is priced at and fits snuggly across the foam layers.
Reviews are fairly positive but it's important to remember the price point of this mattress which does have it at the more budget in the entire lineup. It's ideal for kids or those of a average or lower BMI but it won't rival some of the more expensive mattresses in the range. Positive reviews make mention of the great quality to cost ratio and any repeat the same as above, that it has proven suitable for their children.
Negative reviewers look to have been expecting something a bit more substantial for their rooms but that's just not a reality from a sub £100 product like this. It's great value for money, but you won't be getting pocket springs or a deep support layer.
Reasons to Buy
One of the lowest priced mattresses available not just at Dreams, but anywhere in the UK. For this price-point your expectations do need to be managed however, a medium tension should prove suitable for side sleepers and back sleepers alike.
Rolled by design means there will be no issue getting the product up many flights of stairs or around tough corners.
Reasons to Avoid
More of a children's mattress and as a result it may be somewhat unsuitable for adults in continual use albeit okay in a pinch. Some adults have indeed found the mattress to be unsuitable for long periods with a few reports of springs being felt in the support layer beyond the comfort layer above.
