Why our sleep experts loved it
Today we're looking at the Abbeydale Pocket Sprung Mattress from a household industry name in Silentnight. The manufacturer is probably the most prolific and well known in the industry and sentiment for the manufacturer has yet to be toppled from the rising bed-in-a-box challengers. The company has a long partnership with their key primary retailer Dreams, who between them have crafted this new Abbeydale mattress. So what's it like? Read on to find out more.
The comfort layer (this sits at the top of the mattress in the layer hierarchy)
Featuring a new comfort layer of Airstream Memory™, this layer has deep fillings of comfortable and body-moulding memory foam
The extra breathable and supportive Airstream Memory™ comfort layer helps to reduce restlessness throughout the night, moulding with the contours of your body for soothing pressure relief. One of the main problems we hear about is around poor temperature regulation in traditional memory foam comfort layers, however, this is not the case with the Airstream Memory. Thanks to this unique comfort layer, exclusive to Dreams, you will get all the benefits of memory foam, without the primary drawback of poor temperature control and lack of breathability.
The support layer (this sits at the bottom of the mattress)
Also known as the base layer, this is where your mattress gets all of its support from. People often focus too much on the comfort layer without paying close enough attention to the base layer however, they are both equally important and without one of the other you will end up in pain or discomfort.
The support layer in the Abbeydale Pocket Sprung Mattress features a proprietary spring system known as Mirapocket, based on the popular and high performing pocket spring technology. The Mirapocket base layer has proven time and time again to hold up and provide good body contouring without any real downsides outside of a slightly higher cost (versus poorer performing Miracoil). The tension of the wound springs is rated at a medium which means this product should suit most people, regardless of whether they are back or side sleepers of average build.
The cover (wraps around the mattress)
This is one good looking cover, helping highlight the prestige and good quality of the inner components in a shroud of durable yet soft Purotex covering. The Purotex is fantastic because it has built in protection against dust mites and other allergens to create a fresher and more hygienic sleeping experience making this mattress Hypoallergenic by design and ideal for a vast range of people.
