Ravello Ortho Mattress Review

New from Bensons for Beds is the Ravello Ortho Mattress, an orthopaedic mattress with a firm designation that will protect your back and neck as you sleep.

Looking at the support layer this mattress features the same luxurious pocket springs we know and love. The spring system within performs better than open coil and foam counterparts and is why this mattress secures that orthopaedic designation.

Onto the comfort layer and you get the new eco-fibre layer that is both environmentally conscious and also extremely comfortable. We're starting to see this eco-fibre utilised in a multitude of different products coming in to the Bensons lineup and it looks to perform exceptionally well given the price point.

The mattress features an impressive 5 year guarantee which is somewhat market leading and gives the consumer great protection relative to the 1 year traditionally offered. Furthermore the BSI Kitemark assures you of great British quality.

The mattress is available in all popular mattress sizes and is hand tufted to give a slightly firmer feel. The result of the above is a soft mattress in the comfort layer with a firm base that will help alleviate back and neck problems common with those that would require orthopaedic intervention.

Reasons to Buy

Orthopaedic support and pocket springs rarely come at this price point.

Reasons to Avoid

Not suitable for those who don't need firmer orthopaedic support.

What Makes The Ravello Ortho Mattress Great?

Made in Britain

These are made and manufactured in the Great Britain, meaning that they all meet the same exceptional quality and durability that we expect from genuine Great Britain manufacturing.

5-year guarantee

This is an exceptional guarantee that is fairly uncommon within the industry, this shows that the retailer and supplier both have huge confidence in the product that they are selling. Any problems in the first 5 years? Call them and they will sort it.

Mattress height: 26cm

26cm is fairly deep for a mattress and comes with enough depth to feature many good quality components and comfort layers necessary to get a good nights sleep

Individually encased pocket springs for support and individual comfort to ensure no roll together

Pocket springs are probably the best support layer you can get in a mattress helping to provide measured and even support across your body where you need it most. What's more, the unique feeling of pocket springs hugs each point of your body, offering contouring across each pressure point to relieve aches and pains. Lesser models will frequently include alternatives to pocket springs like open coil traditional springs and reflex foam. Do not be fooled, while pocket springs are often slightly more money than their counterparts, you are typically getting a better spring system and base layer.

Eco-Fibre Layer provides great comfort

Available in sizes: Single, Small Double, Double, King and Super King

This mattress is not available in custom sizes, caravan sizes or ikea sizes. Instead, this mattress is available in the universally common mattress sizes to suit most people, my preference is a king size, big enough to starfish in while being small enough to fit in most rooms comfortably.

BSI - British Standard Kitemark™ accredited

The UK has some of the strictest standards of manufacture with which to comply too. This is great news for the consumer as you can be sure of a quality product.

Total 1000 pocket springs for premium comfort and support

Pocket springs are a great support layer. Available in a variety of firmness's, the quality of a spring system is generally determined by the spring count. With 1000 springs this mattress represents a good quality to cost ratio, providing enough springs to successfully contour to your body and provide you with a great nights sleep.

Deep quality luxury fillings for excellent durability and resilience

With the average life expectancy of a mattress pegged at around 7 years,  it can be extremely important to make sure that you get a product that is both durable and resilient. These mattresses come with plenty of deep and luxurious fillings that may mean that the mattress is a little deeper than you may be accustomed to.

Double sided - Flip and turn regularly to prolong mattress

A double sided mattress is one that comes with comfort layers on both sides. The benefit of this for the customer is that you get twice the surface area through a series of rotation and flipping that should become second nature to you as part of the recommended mattress care guidelines. A mattress that can be flipped means you get better settlement of springs and fillings over time which may also prevent dipping over the long term.

Firmness rating: Firm

When we fall asleep, our muscles relax and what that does is it allows our body to decompress. But when we're sleeping on a too soft mattress, the muscles don't have enough support and they're not getting the proper relaxation. The benefits of a firm mattress are that you're going to sleep more soundly,  your back pain is going to be relieved and you're going to have less muscle aches and pains.

Orthopaedic for added support

Ideal for those that suffer from neck and back pain, this mattress comes with additional support to aid and contour to your body to better relieve aches and pains.

Traditionally hand tufted pocket sprung mattress for extra durability

Pocket springs are probably the best support layer you can get in a mattress helping to provide measured and even support across your body where you need it most. What's more, the unique feeling of pocket springs hugs each point of your body, offering contouring across each pressure point to relieve aches and pains. Lesser models will frequently include alternatives to pocket springs like open coil traditional springs and reflex foam. Do not be fooled, while pocket springs are often slightly more money than their counterparts, you are typically getting a better spring system and base layer.
