Key Performance Indicators KPI question mark

Our Key Performance Indicators are produced using a combination of specification-heavy algoritmic data points and user reviews. For example, a firm pocket spring support layer is more breathable and offers better back support but may prove unsuitable for side sleepers, the reverse is true for a soft-medium tension reflex foam support layer. This is one of 100+ datapoints considered when generating the below ratings.

Suitability

*Assuming average weight, suitability will vary dependant on body type, use the wizard above for a more tailored guide.
  • Back Sleepers
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • The amount of support offered from a mattress will vary depending on the firmness of the tension and the type of support layer used. Based on a person of average build.
  • Side Sleepers
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • If you sleep on your side you typically need a supportive tension that is not too firm, nor too soft. This is because your hips and shoulders need adequate sinkage.
  • Stomach Sleepers
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Stomach sleepers need a reasonable amount of tension in the base support layer to adequately offer body contouring and help prevent aches and pains. Results will vary based on your build.

Performance

  • Breathability
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Mattresses that feature breathable materials help promote airflow and keep you cool making for a more hygienic night's sleep.
  • Turning on mattress
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Certain materials like memory foam can make it difficult to move about on the mattress while you toss and turn. Same too for pillow tops which can create a cloud like sensation which can make manoeuvrability challenging.
  • Stability
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Depending on the type of support layer in place can have an impact on stability, edge to edge support and roll together prevention. Pocket springs of a firmer tension will have better stability than open coil soft tension, for example.

Odour

  • Initial Odour
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Materials in mattresses, particularly memory foam and rolled bed-in-a-box mattresses can have an initial odour, this is typically short term and reduces considerably within 24 hours.
  • Long Standing Odour
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Certain materials inside different mattresses can produce a small odour. Typically this is short term rather than long standing but there are minor exceptions.

What Makes The Dormeo Wellsleep Hybrid Mattress Great?

Total Depth:23cm

23cm of mattress depth is enough to house a typical good quality spring system with decent support and comfort layers while also being thin enough to accessorise with standard mattress sheets. No need for deeper sheets and further purchases as a result.

Memory Foam Depth:2.5cm

Memory foam has properties that adapt shape of your body, immediately recovering its original shape once pressure is no longer applied. It adapts to your movements without sinking, ensuring that pressure is not produced, but without the wrapping feeling which would otherwise cause unnatural posture.

Comfort:Medium/Firm

A medium firm tension mattress is slightly firmer than your average medium mattress. This is ideal for those who either prefer a little bit more support, or, those that have a slightly higher BMI than average. You may also benefit from a medium firmness mattress where you are suffering from neck/back pain as the additional support can help prevent and alleviate these symptoms.

Pocket Springs:Up to 728

Pocket springs are probably the best support layer you can get in a mattress helping to provide measured and even support across your body where you need it most. What's more, the unique feeling of pocket springs hugs each point of your body, offering contouring across each pressure point to relieve aches and pains. Lesser models will frequently include alternatives to pocket springs like open coil traditional springs and reflex foam. Do not be fooled, while pocket springs are often slightly more money than their counterparts, you are typically getting a better spring system and base layer. When it comes to pocket springs and the quality within, the more springs generally the better as the density will increase contouring ever-closer to your body as you sleep.

Cover:Airmesh Sides

The mattress has a cover that features airmesh sides, these sides are highly breathable and allow for better hygiene within the mattress while also preventing overheating.

Medium/Firm

While the medium is a safe choice for all, medium/firm is a great option for stomach or back sleepers. Preventing the hips and pelvis from sinking lower than the shoulders it straitens the spine. Medium/Firm mattresses can be medium-firm across all layers, a combination of a medium top with a firm core or a firm top with a medium core.

23cm

20cm of mattress depth is enough to house a typical good quality spring system with decent support and comfort layers while also being thin enough to accessorise with standard mattress sheets. No need for deeper sheets and further purchases as a result.

Supportive memory foam layer:

This relates to the top layer of the mattress. In this case the top layer is one of memory foam. This is a great choice for those looking for the ultimate in comfort. Memory foam was developed by NASA and has bouncy rebounding technology that feels like you are sleeping on a cloud.

Individual wrapped pocket springs:

Pocket sprung mattresses are some of the best on the market for the amount of support they are able to offer and are generally regarded as high quality. Each spring get's housed in it's own little pocket within the mattress ensuring all springs stay where they are supposed to and ensuring that they contour to your body effectively. We much prefer pocket spring construction over open coil

Hybrid layers:

A Hybrid combination of traditional springs combined with a foam as a support layer giving you a base that contours to your every move and ensures good back and neck support.

Cool & breathable airmesh sides:

The mattress comes with breathable side vents that allow the mattress to remain cool while you sleep. Another benefit to being breathable is that you naturally sweat during the night and the cool and breathable nature means that your mattress will remain hygienic for many years to come.

Delivered rolled and vacuum packed:

Easy to carry, manoeuvre and transport especially around tight corners and upstairs. Vacuumed into an airtight packaging they are protected in a hygienic bubble until you are ready to lay it into position and let it breathe. This packing will not only make it easier to get from the store to your room but because they take up less space it reduces the carbon footprint, they are usually always in stock and delivery is quicker because more can be dispatched at a time.

No flip, just rotate design:

This is a one sided mattress that does not need to be flipped. This means that the fillings and comfort layer will only be on one side. Do note however, that you should still rotate the mattress every 3 months to ensure even wear and less chance of dipping during settlement

Non-slip base:

A non-slip is quite simple and just means that the base of the mattress won't move no matter how much you toss and turn in your sleep.

Best sleep ever

I have just finished my 60 day trial and there is no way that this mattress is going back I had bad back aches with my previous mattress and although my partner was sleeping fine I resorted to spending most of the nights on my sofa Since buying this mattress I spend not only my nights but also a lot of my evenings (and some weekends) in bed it has literally changed my life hopefully my back aches are a thing of the past

Poor warranty

Having read the other reviews, I can agree that the mattress edge has no support whatsoever but the comfort level overall is good. What concerns me is, similar mattresses have previously had warranties of between 15-18 years. Imagine my dismay when I discovered that this mattress only has a 12 month warranty- you have to ask whether this is indicative of the company's confidence in their products longevity?
