Slumberland vs Silentnight Mattresses

Before purchasing this Benson's mattress (bensonsforbeds.co.uk), I discovered that the firmness of a mattress should be determined by a person's weight and sleeping position. There are many guides on the internet about this, such as sleepfoundation/best-mattress/mattress-firmness I am approx. 168 lbs in weight and a side sleeper, so I was very confident a good quality mattress which was medium firmness would be the best firmness for me. I am not disappointed with the Slumberland Natural Solutions 2000 medium firmness mattress. It is very comfortable although it feels much harder than my old mattress which was 17 years old and completely worn out. I chose the Natural Solutions 2000 mattress as it has natural fillings which are more breathable than foam layer mattresses. These natural fillings allow body heat to dissipate more efficiently than foam layered mattresses. This was very important to me as I live in a very well insulated building in a 1st floor flat, which also receives a lot of direct sunlight through the windows throughout the day and I tend to be a slightly 'hot' sleeper. I have not felt too warm in bed during August 2023 with my new Naturals mattress. The Slumberland Natural Solutions 2000 is also very good value for money when compared with other similar mattresses on the internet. The outer material feels high quality and so do the pocket springs when lying on them. It has 2000 pocket springs which helps isolate any movement a sleeping partner might make which helps to aid a good night's sleep, especially if someone sleeps with a 'restless' sleeper. It's lovely, I didn't realise how much the old one had deteriorated! A bit firmer than in the shop but the nice chap did make that clear before I bought it. It's settled down a bit now and my back has been so much better after just 2 weeks on it. It's cooler than the memory foam one which is what I wanted anyway. It doesn't move much with both sides being used at the same time. It's pretty deep so take note of that as it's quite high off the floor on a divan base, but I was used to a lower wooden frame anyway. You might need some deeper fitted sheets to cover it completely although it's a lovely looking mattress in it's own right. I'd say that the medium one would be a good fit for most folk, but this form one is perfect for me with just mild back pain during the day, but gone in the morning. Don't hesitate, it's worth every penny! After sales messages very informative too, delivery spot on and really nice couple of blokes.

Well, for the time being, we're reserving our total judgement. We think we're getting used to it but have a few 'not sure' thoughts: 1. It's a deeper mattress than our previous one which was an earlier version of this mattress which we'd been happy with but was 11 years old. For someone of 5'1" it's almost impossible to perch on the edge - which isn't as firm as our previous one very soft around the edge. 2. After only two or three days' sleep, there are obvious dips in the top of the mattress where our lower backs and bottoms lie. This surprised us. These dips don't disappear as the mattress settles. Is this normal? When we ordered this mattress, the advisor explained the benefits of the improved memory-foam layer perhaps I need to call him and ask about it. We chose the 'firmer' version of the mattress and we're hoping it was a good choice. Hopefully we will soon feel it was a good choice.

I'm loving my new mattress so far. When I'm laid down it's really comfy. Soft to lay on and aligns with your body posture. When I sit up, it seems to sink down a bit though. It is also much deeper then I anticipated. I will need to buy some deeper fitted sheets. But that was my error as the measurements were clearly stated. My divan base is already deep and now topped with the mattress, I have to jump slightly to sit on the bed! Then my feet are dangling about 6" from the floor. I'm 5' 6" but have short legs! I've never paid as much for a mattress, but if the firmness and comfy top layer last a few years, I will be very pleased I did, and will remain very satisfied with my new mattress. I went into my local Bensons not reallly knowing what mattress I needed to replace my old one. The assistant in the store did not rush me while I tried a variety of mattresses some of them 2 or 3 times before deciding on the one for me. The transaction was quick and almost immediately I received updates on my phone for delivery dates and insurance cover. The mattress was delivered precisely at the time allocated and the delivery team were happy to carry the mattress up my narrow lane to my house. They put the new mattress in its new place and retrieved the old mattress to take away with them. Along with the mattress came full instructions for best methods of looking after it. I would throughly recommend Bensons for bed or mattress purchases. They have a clever instrument for finding the best bed type to suit your requirements although it was not necessary for my purchase.

This is the first mattress I've ever bought. That's not to say I've never had a mattress in my possession before, it's just that, at the age of 32, this is the first one I have actually purchased myself. To an inexperienced customer, the world of mattress shopping is a daunting and complex domain, populated by a practically endless set of variables which one might never have previously considered, including 'pocket springs', 'coils' and 'memory foam', on top of the standard 'three amigos' of retail: price, brand and size. A visit to John Lewis with my girlfriend (a mattress-buying veteran who provided a welcome guiding hand) one evening after work provided an opportunity for us to get to grips with some of the many options first-hand. This was an investment of time I recommend to anyone in advance of considering making such a life-defining purchase online. I learned from this trip that the upper limit of what one can spend on a mattress is practically (but crucially, not literally) infinite. This was also the point at which the inherent gamble involved in the endeavour of mattress-purchasing was laid bare to me, with the stark realisation that no amount of casual testing of a mattress in-store could ever be sufficient to know what it would actually *be like* to sleep on one, let alone spend hundreds - and probably thousands - of nights cuddled up in (hopefully) restful slumber. After literally minutes of consideration, we left the store with a reasonably-priced, reliably-branded double 1200 pocket sprung memory foam option in mind and gainfully treated ourselves to dinner at an American BBQ restaurant as reward for our evening's work (which was, as it happens, dimly-lit and somewhat disappointing, though this is not our concern here). In the end, we went to Mattresses Online and bought what looked like a similar option, except with 1000 not 1200 pocket springs. Our experience thus far has been positive. We have not felt at all poorer for the 200 less pocket springs, and the memory foam element provides welcomingly soft cushioning, like laying down into the warm embrace of soft, yet firm, human flesh. I fully endorse this mattress.

I bought this 2 weeks ago and it’s been amazing so far, the pocket springs combined with the memory foam pillow top makes this bed very comfy and a dream to sleep on! Far better than my old simba hybrid mattress as that one was all memory foam, Good pocket springs from a reputable company like silent night are the way to go! And the fact this bed has a pillow top to make it that lil bit comfier is great, the pillow top is lowkey essential.. The bed come a bit firmer than I’d have liked took 3 nights to break it in, then it was perfect and it’s been very comfy ever since! I didn’t see this bed in store as it’s online only but I’m so glad I went with this one absolute dream! Only negative I do have is the fact it took 2-3 weeks to arrive which meant I had to sleep on my neighbours 10 year old mattress while I waited for it to come, defo worth it though. Positives • Very comfortable • Pocket springs provide adequate support without reducing any comfort • It looks like a well built mattress that will last a long time • 8 year guarantee for a extra fee but wasn’t too expensive for the peace of mind provided • Look for excuses to get to bed earlier now • Perfect size (little bit smaller than my simba double but works well with my bed frame) • Good height mattress! • Mirapocket zoned springs are a great help to provide support & comfort Negatives • Took what felt like a month for the item to arrive • Can’t see the item in any store in the Uk for some reason it’s online only which is annoying • No handles on the sides so turning the bed round is a ball ache!! Overall I’d give it 5 stars so far I may do another review 6 months in and let you all know how I get on with it as I’m aware mattresses can change from 2 weeks - 6 months hopefully this one stays comfortable and supportive it looks well built so I’ve got a feeling this will be the case.. This is a REALLY firm mattress, like sleeping on a floor. That is just what I wanted.I have a genetic condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which means my skeleton is not held in place properly due to my connective tissue being 'floppy'. This is the best mattress I have ever owned (far better than 'luxury' brands costing upwards of £1,000) and supports my skeleton perfectly. At last, I can have a comfortable night's sleep and not wake up with dislocated joints (yes, that does happen) and severe pain all over my body.So, for me, this mattress is heaven itself.However, you have to realise that this is like sleeping on a breeze block for most of your body. If your current mattress is saggy, it is probably because it's old or worn or hasn't been turned properly. Do not buy a 'very firm' mattress to replace it unless you want a really HARD bed! Pretty much any new mattress will be firmer than an old one. This mattress is designed for people who are obese or disabled or have an extremely bad back that is permanent. I would imagine that for other people it would be way too firm. So beware of that before you buy.But if you know you want a very firm mattress, then believe me, you can't do better than this for the price. So long as you rotate it every week initially as recommended (after two months you can rotate it once a month), it does not sag. I have had mine about six weeks now and there is no sag whatsoever.

Bought the super king size online. I can not fault this bed, however it is a VERY FIRM mattress - after 2 weeks sleeping on it it is now beginning to soften slightly, my husband who is over 6ft and weighs around 15 stone thinks it is wonderful, it is a bit hard for me though (but is getting there!) I was told in store to avoid this Miracoil mattress as it was not pocket sprung (which is why they don't have them in store to try out) but I think it is absolutely fine, we didn't have thousands to spend on a bed and bought this hoping it would last for a few years - it seems very well constructed and looks like it is built to last, I'm glad I didn't listen to the instore sales pitch for the pocket springs! There is absolutely no roll together, in fact I tend to fling myself as I swap from my side onto my back and then onto my side again and hubby doesn't even notice I'm moving now! The drawers are on the small side but are sturdy and well built, and the dark grey fabric of the base is a good neutral colour. Fab delivery team, very curteous and clean - even put shoe covers on, and came within the 2 hour delivery slot I was given. Definitely recommend this bed.

Honestly, best purchase I've made in a very, very long time. For context, I'm 6ft6" and my partner is 5ft4". We were sharing a 4ft double mattress for over a year (yes, I know)... We both constantly felt groggy and achey and never had a good night sleep. We bought this King Size mattress and bed frame from Dreams in the sale and received both items about 6 weeks later. The bed frame was easy to build and very sturdy. The mattress itself did feel quite firm, but after our first night sleep we realised just how much of a difference a good quality mattress can make. My smart watch sleep tracker showed me that with the new mattress I was getting 80-90% deep sleep, where as before it was around 40-50%. When at work and doing the day-to-day I feel far more energised and now we both actually want to lay in bed together and watch TV on those Sunday mornings. As a tall guy, I have enough room that my feet don't hang off the bed and it gives my whole body support. Sorry for the lengthy read, but seriously.. try this mattress out.
