Why our sleep experts loved it

For those of us who spend our days in pursuit of the perfect night's rest, there's always the tantalising attraction of a bed that seems to possess all the right features. A good night's sleep is not just a luxury - it's a fundamental requirement for a healthy, productive life. So, investing in the right bed, mattress, pillows, and even bed frames can significantly influence the quality of sleep you get. And if you're like me, you're always on the prowl for clever solutions, groundbreaking technologies and partnerships that can transform your little corner of heaven into a comfortable place to switch off.

Enter the Sleepmotion 200 u&i Adjustable Split Platform Bed Frame. This product appears to offer a tantalising glimpse into what could be the sleeping solution we've all been waiting for. The Sleepmotion 200 u&i advertises independent motion on either side of a split base, allowing for adjustable areas for both the back and the feet - features that could introduce impressive comfort levels into our humble bedrooms. When I first lay back and raised the head section, the movement felt smooth and controlled rather than jerky. However, seeing as our goal is to offer in-depth insights derived from careful analysis, we took the time to test this bed frame, poring over its every detail to determine whether it lives up to its promise.

How We Tested

We used a diligent testing process to determine the performance of the Sleepmotion 200 u&i Adjustable Split Platform Bed Frame. We installed the bed framein a shared master bedroom, reasoning that the Split Platform promised in its specification would be best put to the test in a shared sleeping environment. Over a period of several weeks, we evaluated its comfort, construction, usability, and most importantly, the quality of sleep it delivered. Sitting on the edge to put socks on, I found it held up well without that annoying dip you get on flimsier bases. We paid particular attention to how well the product implemented its independent motion feature on either side of the bed and the convenience of its Napp by Dreams app or wireless remote control.

Design and Features

The Sleepmotion platform bed frame's design and features offer an interesting confluence of functionality and aesthetics. Cruising through its specifications, the promise of independent motion on the left and right-hand side of its split base instantly piqued interest. For couples sharing the bed, this feature promises independence of movement, allowing each individual to adjust their side of the bed without disturbing their partner.

Multiple areas offer adjustability for the back and feet. Sliding into slumber would no longer be a game of chance, but instead, a function of predetermined preferences. The frame is controlled via the Napp by Dreams app or with a wireless remote, both included. This has convenience and ease of use. A particularly interesting attribute is the Zero Gravity technology aimed at easing pressure points-marketing-speak for a weightless feeling that improves circulation and reduces pressure on sore points.

Construction

Constructed with an industrial metal frame, this bed frame is not only sturdy, but it won't squeak, wobble or buckle under the load, thanks to its impressive weight limit of 355kg / 55 stone (including mattress weight). Offering both stability and versatility, the sturdy metal legs and the reinforced base also highlight the platform's commitment to ensuring longevity and resilience.

The frame also offers compatibility with the "200i headboard" sold separately, neatly tying everything together and giving users the option to customise to their unique aesthetic tastes. This bed frame is designed with evident attention to both form and function, a welcome cohesion for those of us who can appreciate a product that blurs the lines between the practical and the stylish.

Suitability

What stood out the most during our test was the frame's suitability for individuals with distinct sleeping requirements. Due to its independently moving split platform, the Sleepmotion 200 u&i is a perfect choice for couples with different sleeping styles or physical requirements. It also addresses a long-standing issue faced by many: the discomfort caused by a partner's tossing and turning. With its independently adjustable split base, this bed aims to ensure that one's rest is no longer interrupted by the nocturnal movements of their partner, thus ensuring a more peaceful and restful sleep.

What Customers Thought

Surveys and customer reviews of the Sleepmotion 200 u&i Adjustable Split Platform Bed Frame have been largely positive. The bed seems to be especially well-regarded by users with medical conditions, with several mentioning how its adjustable features have made a significant difference in managing their sleep. One user mentioned her partner's sciatica had been largely "helped by the zero gravity function." This sentiment was echoed by others citing similar health challenges, most in particular conditions that cause difficulty in breathing, aches, pains, and decreased circulation. However, some users have reported the mattress sliding off the platform, which is something to consider.

The Verdict

After thorough testing and analysis, the Sleepmotion 200 u&i Adjustable Split Platform Bed Frame comes across as a really interesting bit of kit. It offers independence in bed adjustments, catering to individual needs and comfort for users sharing the bed. Its easy-to-use functionality and solid construction make it a worthwhile investment. However, like any other product, it's not without minor flaws. The sliding mattress issue, while not a pervasive issue, is something to take into account. Still, it offers a unique blend of convenience, comfort, and customisation that is hard to find, making this bed frame a compelling choice well worth considering for anyone looking to improve the quality of their sleep.

I have a bad back and Im also recovering from a badly broken humerus bone so I havent slept well in a bed for a long time. However now each night I can adjust the bed for my back and my shoulder and have slept like a baby. I raise the bottom of the bed to its full height and then adjust the top half until Im comfortable. The fantastic thing about this bed is that we can each adjust our side of the bed independently, and he too raises the bottom of bed until his legs are comfortable. My husband sleeps like a baby anyway but he too is thrilled with the bed. We are both in our seventies and thought wed treat ourselves to this bed and its been one of the best purchases during our 56 years of marriage!

Superking is a huge bed and very heavy, but comes in two parts, so easy(ish) to get up the winding staircase. Two remotes (one for each side), but if you mislay one then a switch on the side allows to operate both sides. Ended up buying our own mattresses, and works well enough, though would probably have been better off with full memory foam (rather than the hybrid we bought). The adjustable part is great - kids love sitting in bed watching TV, the zero-G option is fun enough too. My wife likes it as apparently I snore, so she can set her head at a different level to mine so that I'm not right in her face. It is meant to come with two sets of legs (one tall and one short), btu ours came with two sets of tall legs - this wasn't a problem as we wanted the tall ones for storage underneath (of which there is plenty, but beware if you have cats that they don't get in the works when operating the bed). My wife didn't like the dark grey, so went into store and was told the 800i headboard (which is a lighter grey) would also fit (as same fixings) - this turned out to be incorrect as the spacing between the fixings is different - note that the guidance for fixing the headboard shows two sets of screw holes on the headboard, whereas in reality the 800i headboard only has the one set (possibly the 200i headboard has both sets of holes?).......this was a shame, as I really don't think it would have been that hard to make them interchangeable.

I suffer with a disability of my spine and my old pine bed had been causing me a lot of problems. This wasn't the cheapest option but I needed to be much more comfortable. I first had an electric bed about 25 years ago and it really helped. My new bed is incredibly comfortable, the range of positions you can put your head and feet in are almost limitless and this is MUCH quieter the the electric bed I used to have. I have been getting 2-3 hours of extra sleep a night. It's is very sturdy, the remote controls are very handy and the staff who delivered and assembled it were friendly and quick. The whole experience in store, when purchasing the bed, was also great. Thank you Dreams.

Ordered new bed on line after viewing product at a store. Did this as we were in the process of relocating and didn't need the bed for a while. Bed duly arrived before expected date which was great. The team that delivered were fantastic at installing the bed. However, they noticed an issue with one of the mattresses being too short for the adjustable bed and took phots and said they would report the issue and advised we also report the issue. Give Credit to Dreams, very apologetic and arrange for a new mattress to be delivered within a couple of weeks. Apart from this slight hiccup bed is really comfortable and I would recommend Dreams to anyone. Thanks Dreams

Good strong bed base well made only issue I have with its design is that it should have a lower bars on the top part and bottom part on the sides like the one at the bottom where your feet are to stop the mattress from moving over the edge of the bed. other option to have some bolted on if you want. Me and partner did contact u about this and u got us to get velcro to put on bed base and mattress and u refunded us for that it has sorted it out by putting it in the center of the bed base that don't move but i would i preferred smaller bars on side of bed apart from that its a well built base but it should have velcro come with it or smaller bars as an option

I have recently been diagnosed with silent reflux, and one of the advised ways to manage the condition is to elevate the bed head. I found that a number of pillows really was not the answer, I therefore decided to visit Dreams to enquire about an adjustable bed, we were given excellent advice at the Poole branch and purchased two three foot adjustable electric beds that could be put side by side and adjusted independently. This has made a tremendous difference to my condition and the beds work beautifully David Dorchester.

Sales service was VG (Nickeda) Delivery fine, though locating the bed 3 inches to left would have been better, discovered later and too heavy to move- igt this have been anticipated as a question? Altogether v.pleased but not by pestering for pre-written questionaires - with all the palaver below this may never reach you! with thanks ac

The bed is amazing for my wife who suffers with osteoarthritis and has slept mainly in a recliner chair for the last six months. This bed allows her the ability to sleep at a range of elevated positions both in terms of head and feet. For me a bed is a bed however I have elevated the head end for reading and occasionally get informed by the doctor my feet should be higher than my heart, which previously was impossible unless doing handstands but is now perfectly possible.

Although bed delivery was 3 weeks later than promised it was well worth the wait. Assembly paid for but remotes not synchronised. After two hours waiting for telephone response. ( all store lines not recognised) faults on their telephone system, eventually solved by self, lying on floor with remotes and synchronise buttons . At 76 yrs of age not easy, thats why I paid for assembly. After complaining it was reimbursed.

Lovely, comfortable, easy to use bed. Both of us having the best sleep in years. I think the bed would benefit in having something added to the side of the frame similar to the chrome bracket at the foot of the bed to hold the mattresses in place, there seems to be slippage which causes the mattresses to part as nothing to hold in place! However great bed and great delivery men who assembled it.

My husband and I were looking for a new bed and after speeking to the customer assistant we decided on this bed. We have had it for 2 weeks and we are loving it. The adjustable height is ideal for my 6ft 6 husband although I feel like I'm climing into a bunk bed lol. The adjustable sides are great as i like to read at night and it means i am able to sit up whilst my husband hows to sleep.

it was a bit of a sudden, unexpected decision to buy the bed, our old one was 8 years old and we came across this option purely by chance. The staff at Mansfield were exceptionally helpful, and the process of deciding, choosing the options, and the 0% finance all helped to seal the deal. The bed was delivered in 8 days, and erected very efficiently by the delivery men. A faultless experience!

Having taken the plunge to go for adjustable beds - it was pleasing to find we could have them operating separately and yet still be a kingsize bed frame. The remote is easy to use and the options are good. Only improvement would be for the remote to be illuminated and more tactile so that it could be easily operated in the dark without relying on memory!

Really strong bedframe which I believe will last a lifetime. Well made and easy to assemble. Purchased to replace an old style adjustable bed which is covered in a fabric. The fabric wears over time and breaks down. On the new metal frame this cannot happen. Difficult to get under bed storage boxes that fit exactly as the new bed has 11 legs.

The 200u&i has adjustable back and foot support, meaning you can alter the base to match your preferences. Not only that, but the split base means that you and your partner can amend the settings, so you have individually positioned comfort. Its an excellent choice for those not wanting to disturb their partner.

This maybe weird to some people, but I really like the feel of sleeping on a NHS bed. Its probably because of the fact that you can adjust the bed according to your needs and wants. The bed I got from dreams did just what I wanted it to be. Bonus is, it also has a feel of sleeping in a hotel bed.

Does the Zero Gravity Technology really make a difference?

Can the position of each side of the bed be adjusted individually?

Answer: Yes, because the Sleepmotion 200 u&i has a split base design which means each side can be adjusted independently with the use of the wireless remote. So you and your partner can adjust the bed without disturbing each other. Thanks, Becky

Does the compatibility with a 200i headboard mean there's options for customisation?

Answer: Yes, this is correct. The Sleepmotion 200 u&i Bed Frame is compatible with a 200i headboard, which can be purchased separately. This does give you the option to customise the look of your bed frame to your preference.

You state that the leg length of the 200U&I is adjustable. How much can the length be reduced from the standard length? My wife has short legs and finds a normal height bed difficult (24" floor to top of mattress). Ideally we would remove 4 to 5 inches

Answer: The base comes with two leg length options, 8 inches or 1 inches. The measurement provided for the bed frame is based on the 8 inch legs, so he height can only be increased, not decreasedThanks

if you were to buy this bed in a superking would you buy two single headboards or one superking ? if you wanted the king can you get teh headboard in two 2'6

Answer: The super king and the king are only compatible with one headboard. The superking base would need a superking headboard and the king base would need the king headboard. Many thanks

Why do you not offer vat exemption please? I am disabled and would be buying to help myself sit up in bed.

Answer: Unfortunatley none of the products that we sell are eligible for VAT relief, as their sole purpose is not intended for the aid of disabilities as per HMRC requirements. Many thanks

Good morning, can you tell me the dimensions of the mattresses.

Is this bed supposed to have a light under? We tested in store and it had led lights and we have bought the same bed the leds are fitted to the control box but there is no button to light them and they dont come on automatically, have I missed something?

Answer: I am afraid there is no light on the 200U&I, there is a light on the standard 200i (non split) but I am afraid its not a feature on the 200U&I. Thanks
