Slumberland

Slumberland is one of the oldest and most prestigious mattress manufacturers in the UK having first been established in 1919 in Cambridgeshire. To this day, Slumberland remains one of the largest mattress manufacturers, offering an impressive range of products in pocket spring support layers accompanied by numerous upper comfort layers, primarily of foam and latex.

When it comes to price point, Slumberland aims to capture the mid-range price tier while still offering upper range quality. This is evident in the pocket spring support layers offered across the lineup, a support that tops the charts in terms of body contouring and pressure relief.

Simba

Simba have been around for a long time originally founding in 1979, however, they have only been in the bed-in-a-box industry a few years at this point. Simba started its journey with one mattress before branching out to encompass an entire range. These aren’t just any mattresses though, and they have been tested using data from ten million sleepers’ body profiles and over 100 prototypes to help ensure that the mattress and its design will suit the vast majority of sleepers. To date the Simba lineup has become one of the most well-reviewed mattresses worldwide and with the new line-up, there's different models to suit different budgets.

Simba has an entire lineup dedicated to bed in box rolled mattresses. This avenue to market has become increasingly popular in recent years and has numerous benefits, namely that the cost of the product is typically lower due to savings within logistics warehousing and delivery.

Slumberland Owner Satisfaction

Slumberland mattresses are well reviewed, expected given the brands huge selling power. When it comes to customer feedback, reviews are positive with thousands of reviews and happy customers. People particularly enjoyed the luxurious qualities offered from such a reasonably priced mattress with those customers believing they get very good value for money. Other positives come in the form of the support layer, offering full body contouring and pressure relieving qualities that offer a degree of orthopedic comfort that protects and helps against back pain.

Slumberland Supportiveness

When it comes to supportiveness, Slumberland deals almost exclusively with pocket spring base layers. I bring up pocket springs a lot because they are the true mark of a good quality support structure, they generally perform better in tests than open coil traditional springs and reflex foam. Pocket springs offer, on average, better support and better durability, lasting longer than competitors. Slumberland has core parts of their lineup dedicated to orthopedic support which will prove ideal for those looking for additional back and neck support. In terms of firmness, we see a variety of different tensions that will ensure there is something for everyone in the lineup. Recommendations typically see those with back or neck pain navigate toward firmer mattresses, accompanied by back sleepers and heavier weighted people. For those who sleep on their side or are of lower to average weight should perhaps consider a medium tension mattress. With support, it’s all relative and subjective to each person, so consider each mattress on its own individual merit before purchase.

Slumberland Durability

When it comes to durability, Slumberland makes some impressive strides with their lineup. Thanks to the pocket spring support layer you get a better base layer acting as a foundation for everything that sits above. What separates Slumberland from many other manufacturers is that most of the lineup features a 5-10 year guarantee. The guarantee is a testament to the manufacturer's belief in the product they are selling and how long it will typically last. Lots of the industry relies on a 1 year guarantee and helps demonstrate the level of quality offered within Slumberland mattresses. Combine this with the double sided nature of much of the range and you actually get twice the surface area of many competitors, further expanding on longevity and durability.

Simba Owner Satisfaction

Satisfaction for Simba is high on their priority list, offering an impressive comfort guarantee which means that if you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase you are able to organise a return for a full refund. The return process is one of the easiest we have come across and involves letting the company know and they will arrange collection at a time convenient to you. Additionally, there are no additional surcharges, costs or delivery fees associated with the returns process which means you get 200 nights risk free to try the mattress.

After this trial period you will also receive a market leading 10 year guarantee that will further instill confidence and ensure your investment is protected long term.

Simba Supportiveness

Simba have multiple mattresses in their range, however all offer roughly the same level of supportiveness coming in at a medium firm tension. The comfort that you derive from a mattress will generally come from the top layer that sits somewhat detached from the support layer. The support layer is what contours and fights against your body to give you pressure relief. Depending on how you sleep or how much you weigh are both factors in determining suitability of tension. With the medium firm support of the Simba lineup we find them most suitable for back sleepers and those of average or heavier build. That said, due to the inclusivity that Simba has aimed to achieve through its prototypes and extensive testing, we do have plenty of reports of side sleepers and those who are lighter getting maximum comfort out of the lineup.

Simba Durability

People are increasingly expecting more from their mattresses with more comfort and more support on offer than ever before. It’s actually a really great time to buy a new mattress as companies new and old are changing the way they do business and produce mattresses with improvements and savings along the way. The same has become true for durability and while the average lifespan of a mattress before being replaced currently lies at around 7 years, the Simba goes above and beyond with a guarantee covering a full 10 years. The result of mattresses lasting longer is the cost of sleep actually decreases relative to cost and time meaning products like Simba may be cheaper in the long run due to that enhanced and increased durability.

Before purchasing this Benson's mattress (bensonsforbeds.co.uk), I discovered that the firmness of a mattress should be determined by a person's weight and sleeping position. There are many guides on the internet about this, such as sleepfoundation/best-mattress/mattress-firmness I am approx. 168 lbs in weight and a side sleeper, so I was very confident a good quality mattress which was medium firmness would be the best firmness for me. I am not disappointed with the Slumberland Natural Solutions 2000 medium firmness mattress. It is very comfortable although it feels much harder than my old mattress which was 17 years old and completely worn out. I chose the Natural Solutions 2000 mattress as it has natural fillings which are more breathable than foam layer mattresses. These natural fillings allow body heat to dissipate more efficiently than foam layered mattresses. This was very important to me as I live in a very well insulated building in a 1st floor flat, which also receives a lot of direct sunlight through the windows throughout the day and I tend to be a slightly 'hot' sleeper. I have not felt too warm in bed during August 2023 with my new Naturals mattress. The Slumberland Natural Solutions 2000 is also very good value for money when compared with other similar mattresses on the internet. The outer material feels high quality and so do the pocket springs when lying on them. It has 2000 pocket springs which helps isolate any movement a sleeping partner might make which helps to aid a good night's sleep, especially if someone sleeps with a 'restless' sleeper. Kyle was the friendly and helpful salesperson who I saw at Benson's showroom in Yeovil. I recommend the Slumberland Natural Solutions 2000 Medium Firmness mattress and Benson's showroom in Yeovil :)

After an extended period using a, to be honest, pretty poor quality mattress, we opted to up the ante and go with the Slumberland Natural Solutions 2800. It ticked the eco-friendly box which is important to us and offers excellent support, without being too hard (we opted for the 'medium' firmness). We now sleep great and the issues I've had with back and neck which had just started to creep in have gone completely - and that's just in a small number of weeks. The mattress also retains heat really well which is an added bonus. We've not hit the summer (if we have one ) yet, so can't comment on whether the heat retention side makes us too hot, but all good so far. It's not cheap I guess at an rrp of 999, though offers at the time brought it down to 810 for us. However, for us it's well worth spending the extra and there's a significant guarantee period as well, We had a couple of weeks to wait for delivery, but that was fine (though we'd have had same-day if it was available!). Overall, highly recommended.

It's lovely, I didn't realise how much the old one had deteriorated! A bit firmer than in the shop but the nice chap did make that clear before I bought it. It's settled down a bit now and my back has been so much better after just 2 weeks on it. It's cooler than the memory foam one which is what I wanted anyway. It doesn't move much with both sides being used at the same time. It's pretty deep so take note of that as it's quite high off the floor on a divan base, but I was used to a lower wooden frame anyway. You might need some deeper fitted sheets to cover it completely although it's a lovely looking mattress in it's own right. I'd say that the medium one would be a good fit for most folk, but this form one is perfect for me with just mild back pain during the day, but gone in the morning. Don't hesitate, it's worth every penny! After sales messages very informative too, delivery spot on and really nice couple of blokes.

Well, for the time being, we're reserving our total judgement. We think we're getting used to it but have a few 'not sure' thoughts: 1. It's a deeper mattress than our previous one which was an earlier version of this mattress which we'd been happy with but was 11 years old. For someone of 5'1" it's almost impossible to perch on the edge - which isn't as firm as our previous one very soft around the edge. 2. After only two or three days' sleep, there are obvious dips in the top of the mattress where our lower backs and bottoms lie. This surprised us. These dips don't disappear as the mattress settles. Is this normal? When we ordered this mattress, the advisor explained the benefits of the improved memory-foam layer perhaps I need to call him and ask about it. We chose the 'firmer' version of the mattress and we're hoping it was a good choice. Hopefully we will soon feel it was a good choice.

I'm loving my new mattress so far. When I'm laid down it's really comfy. Soft to lay on and aligns with your body posture. When I sit up, it seems to sink down a bit though. It is also much deeper then I anticipated. I will need to buy some deeper fitted sheets. But that was my error as the measurements were clearly stated. My divan base is already deep and now topped with the mattress, I have to jump slightly to sit on the bed! Then my feet are dangling about 6" from the floor. I'm 5' 6" but have short legs! I've never paid as much for a mattress, but if the firmness and comfy top layer last a few years, I will be very pleased I did, and will remain very satisfied with my new mattress. Footnote: The initial Review box on the link would not let me write in it so I did the star rating and pressed Submit, then the error of not writing the Review came up and this time it let me type.

Didn't know where to start choosing a new (well overdue) mattress, heard a lot about Simba so we gave it a go. Best night sleep ever, my wife does get restless and it's either improved or I'm not noticing her moving about. The support is fantastic and it's comfortable too, firmish feel but you still sink into it.Best decision we have made in a long time, happy to recommend.

My wife has suffered with her back for years and has had operation to alleviate some of the pain. I bought her a foam mattress to give her more support but after two years of perseverance she was in agony every morning! Enter the new Simba mattress........no more morning blues and there's no stopping her now. Incredible product and worth every penny.

OK - good service , delivered on time and old mattress taken away .The SIMBA is certainly acceptable I wont bother sending it back under their 100 night guarantee but something about it not quite to my liking. Maybe it needs to sit on a divan rather than an oak framed bed like mine.Anyway it's not causing me any sleepless nights , so Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz !
