The fusion of a stylish design, practical features, and quality materials make the Rory Highsleeper Desk Bedframe a clever investment for the modern home. It is essential though, to look beyond just the top layer and focus on the real functionality, durability, and comfort this bed offers. We’ll cover every detail, from the quality of its design, its construction, its suitability to its overall performance.
How we tested
I checked this out in person at my local Bensons for Beds store, where I could examine the Rory Highsleeper Desk Bedframe properly. I looked at every last detail, doing thorough assessments of the bed's structure and storage efficiency, and I examined the bed in its entirety, from assembly right through to post-assembly usage. I also spent time going back over it across a few days to get a fair feel for day-to-day usability and durability.
Design and features
This multi-functional Highsleeper Bedframe has a well-integrated desk and sofa bed. Storage constraints are tactfully managed with an abundance of shelves located above the desk along with a generous storage compartment beneath the sofa bed. The bed frame's grey finish adds a modern touch that will blend seamlessly into any décor. The conveniently spacious desk makes the perfect playground for both work and play, proving ideal for children aged six and above. However, despite the many advantages, I noticed that the instructions for setup were somewhat confusing, requiring you time and patience during assembly.
Construction
The Rory Highsleeper Desk Bedframe exhibits premium craftsmanship with its sturdy structure. The bed frame stands upon a solid foundation, ensuring exceptional durability that withstands regular wear and tear. It not only conforms to children's safety standards but also encourages easy maintenance and care with its easy-to-clean surface. However, one owner said the box holds only the correct number of fixings, and they "had to go screwfix to buy more when some bits broke".
Suitability
The Rory Highsleeper Desk Bedframe delivers a multi-purpose solution for your child's room. Combining impeccable style with functional efficiency, it is perfectly tailored for children aged six and above. The bedframe is designed to complement a standard UK single mattress measuring 90cm x 190cm. However, to ensure safety and minimise the risk of falling, I recommend using a mattress that does not exceed 15cm in height.
What customers thought
Most owners say their child loves it, and many mention how sturdy it is: "Really nicely made, great colour, sturdy", as one put it. On assembly they are divided. Several found the instructions hard going ("The instructions are awful") and the build long, with one saying it took "near enough a full day", while others called it "easy to assemble" or managed it in about two hours with "really easy instructions". A few had problems with damaged parts. On the space, one owner called it "Perfect for a small bedroom, pull out bed really comfy".
The Verdict
The Rory Highsleeper Desk Bedframe is a mix of aesthetics, functionality, and durability. However, its complicated assembly process is a noticeable downside. Yet, once set up, it becomes a practical and stylish addition to your child's room. So, if you're prepared to handle the assembly complexities, the Rory Highsleeper Desk Bedframe might be just the furniture piece you need to maximise space, maintain style, and ensure comfort for your little one.
