Slumberland

Slumberland is one of the oldest and most prestigious mattress manufacturers in the UK having first been established in 1919 in Cambridgeshire. To this day, Slumberland remains one of the largest mattress manufacturers, offering an impressive range of products in pocket spring support layers accompanied by numerous upper comfort layers, primarily of foam and latex.

When it comes to price point, Slumberland aims to capture the mid-range price tier while still offering upper range quality. This is evident in the pocket spring support layers offered across the lineup, a support that tops the charts in terms of body contouring and pressure relief.

Slumberland Owner Satisfaction

Slumberland mattresses are well reviewed, expected given the brands huge selling power. When it comes to customer feedback, reviews are positive with thousands of reviews and happy customers. People particularly enjoyed the luxurious qualities offered from such a reasonably priced mattress with those customers believing they get very good value for money. Other positives come in the form of the support layer, offering full body contouring and pressure relieving qualities that offer a degree of orthopedic comfort that protects and helps against back pain.

Slumberland Supportiveness

When it comes to supportiveness, Slumberland deals almost exclusively with pocket spring base layers. I bring up pocket springs a lot because they are the true mark of a good quality support structure, they generally perform better in tests than open coil traditional springs and reflex foam. Pocket springs offer, on average, better support and better durability, lasting longer than competitors. Slumberland has core parts of their lineup dedicated to orthopedic support which will prove ideal for those looking for additional back and neck support. In terms of firmness, we see a variety of different tensions that will ensure there is something for everyone in the lineup. Recommendations typically see those with back or neck pain navigate toward firmer mattresses, accompanied by back sleepers and heavier weighted people. For those who sleep on their side or are of lower to average weight should perhaps consider a medium tension mattress. With support, it’s all relative and subjective to each person, so consider each mattress on its own individual merit before purchase.

Slumberland Durability

When it comes to durability, Slumberland makes some impressive strides with their lineup. Thanks to the pocket spring support layer you get a better base layer acting as a foundation for everything that sits above. What separates Slumberland from many other manufacturers is that most of the lineup features a 5-10 year guarantee. The guarantee is a testament to the manufacturer's belief in the product they are selling and how long it will typically last. Lots of the industry relies on a 1 year guarantee and helps demonstrate the level of quality offered within Slumberland mattresses. Combine this with the double sided nature of much of the range and you actually get twice the surface area of many competitors, further expanding on longevity and durability.

Sealy Owner Satisfaction

Satisfaction is at the heart of what Sealy offers. Since their inception Sealy has offered numerous different base and comfort layers to try and appease all areas of the market. The company has largely remained successful in their plight thanks to their strong support within the mid-tier market. Customers are most satisfied with the company's firm orthopaedic mattresses, for which they have become renowned.

Sealy Supportiveness

The Sealy lineup includes everything from soft through to firm tensions. The most popular in the range are the mediums which give the best overall support for most people, pairing well with the pocket spring support layer to offer full body contouring for all-round support without feeling too-firm.

For those looking for a bit more support, Sealy has firmness grades exceeding firm and entering extra-firm territory. We would personally recommend these only for specific circumstances as comfort is reduced slightly to better aid support.

Sealy Durability

When it comes to durability Sealy performs in line with expectation. We do see a bit of fallout from some of the cheaper in the range, particularly the open coil sprung models which, combined with a single sided comfort layer often do not have long-lasting properties and may not afford as good value as initially perceived due to their reduced operating lifespan. Contrary to this is the excellent pocket sprung options on offer from Sealy, particularly when paired with a double sided comfort layer. A combination of these will ensure you get a long standing mattress that will last far better and in-line with the average expectancy where people typically look at replacing their mattress (7 years)

I've only had this mattress about 3 weeks so don't feel I can give 5 stars yet - I may update in 6 months. It has improved in comfort significantly from the first week. The comfort rating is what I would rate it now, not what I would have given if I had reviewed this after the first night. Plus points: - double sided so hopefully it will last longer than my last mattress. Most of the other mattresses available were single sided. - light enough for me to turn and flip on my own (there was no point in it being double-sided if it was too heavy for me to lift). As a middle-aged 5ft2in woman this was the main reason I choose this mattress over others. I recommend going into a store and trying to lift mattresses if this is important to you as a lot of other mattresses were very heavy. - pocket sprung and no memory foam - a plus point if you don't like overheating in the summer. - reasonable price Negative points: - you can't sit on the edge of the mattress - this isn't very important to me, but might be important to others. It's fine for getting into and out of bed, but the edges do not have extra support like some mattresses and sink when you sit on them. - breaking in the mattress to achieve a comfortable sleep took around 2 weeks (although I may be breaking it in for a while yet as I still have some rotating and turning to do). The first few days were very uncomfortable, so much so, that I was regretting my decision. However, I had been warned that mattresses can take a while to break in, and had the 40 day trial to fall back on if necessary, so I persevered. Initially the padding feels very pronounced and solid - more like a very firm mattress than a medium. I also thought I could feel the 'tufts' as small hard lumps. I did not sleep well on it the first couple of nights and had back ache, so I looked up some ways of speeding up the 'breaking in' process. I crawled around on it several times a day and resisted getting a topper (which slows down the breaking in process), although I did sleep on top of a doubled up duvet a couple of times in the first week. I'm happy to say that, 3 weeks on, I'm sleeping well, have no back ache and I'm not noticing the tufts anymore. I don't feel like I would need a topper now and would say the mattress is medium/firm at the moment. The area where I'm sleeping is softer than other areas of the mattress, so I think it probably will be a medium as advertised once it is fully broken in. Overall, I am happy I bought this mattress - just be warned that the breaking-in process means you may be in for some uncomfortable nights to begin with. It wouldn't be suitable if you like to use the edge of your mattress as a place to sit.

Ordered this without reading any reviews, recommendations as there were none. Tried it out in store and it felt firm enough- just what we were after. Firmer as it is still new so time will tell how it ages. Firm is just that, wonder what extra firm feels like! Support is great, the top layer doesn’t have much give. The brilliant thing is that it can be flipped over unlike the hybrid lot. The winter side is definitely warm, the summer side noticeably cooler to the touch so I can’t wait to try it when it gets warmer. This is a plus and for the price I would so far recommend his mattress. Has 2 handles on either side and an 8 year guarantee so what’s not to like? I only hope the guarantee is what it says it is

Adding this review as Bensons couldn't be bothered to reply, Dear Benson for Beds, Thank you for today's delivery and the initial bed buying in store at Truro. So disappointed today on the arrival of our new mattress and why yourselves would send an £800 mattress in such a poor condition. The plastic covering was covered in a black storage dust, this black dust ends on the stair carpets, walls, landing carpet and bedroom carpets. Your delivery guys said to watch the black dust and to wash hands before handling the mattress itself, so equally disappointed following this advice to then find even more black marks on the mattress itself. This must be an ongoing issue and lets the whole process down?

I Bought this mattress for a vintage bed with oak wooden head and foot. I never thought about the depth of the mattress when I chose it. When it was delivered it was taken upstairs and put on the bed. I was surprised to see that it had come right to the top of the foot board. I removed the plastic covering and made the bed up with sheets and duvet etc, which of course made it even higher. To get into bed I have to take a little leap. But the mattress is very comfy - firm but comfy that was just what I wanted. It has a gorgeous rich fabric cover on it and I would highly recommend. I just wish it had been a little less deep for my bed.

Very comfortable, good quality, just what we needed to replace our conventional pocket sprung mattress. We liked that on delivery it was vacuum packed which made it easy to move upstairs. Once opened it took a couple of hours to get to its proper shape, and there was a little bit of a chemical smell for a few days, but not overwhelming. This is the 3rd mattress we have bought in 10 years and we have had comfort issues with all of them except this one. We are really pleased with the comfort, quality and the value for money. We would not hesitate to make a recommendation of this product. We love it.

I wanted to 'wait' before posting my review as I was told by my chiropractor it takes around a month for your body to adjust to a new mattress...Having experience a back impact injury February 2016, I have been VERY impatient for it to be resolved quickly. This not being the case! This is my 3rd mattress tried and I must say the 'only' one that has made a difference :) (In saying that I have also had to purchased several pillows, 9 to date, in order to alleviate my pain fully.)I adore the firmness of the mattress and 'feel' I am getting the support in the correct place. I literally sleep the whole night through. I had been waking feeling a little stiffness, but this has now gone. The tightness in my middle back is definitely reduced, as my 'monthly deep tissue massage' is testament to.I'm pleased that the mattress is deep and had no problem getting a fitted sheet to cover it. With a mattress protector nor did I notice the button detail mentioned by several people- I just do not feel them. It was no issue for me- I'm getting (finally) a great night's sleep :)The handles on the sides have made it easier to manhandle, although it is quite hefty, we managed. I have not yet had to turn it.I did do my research however prior to buying, both with comparing prices to other sites (this one is TRULY exceptionally competitively priced!!) and with reading other people's reviews to make my final selection. What can I say... I am a VERY satisfied customer, getting probably a better night's sleep than I did prior to my injury and would thoroughly recommend my purchase :)

This is the probably the third or fourth Sealy mattress we have bought over the years - we have never been disappointed. This particular purchase was to replace the 30 year old mattress we have had since we were married, that had been relegated to the spare room - it needed replacing ! Our current mattress in our main bedroom is a king size posturetech Sealy mattress which is extremely comfortable and we thought any house guests deserve the same. Both myself and my wife have various arthritic joints and the mattress gives good, comfortable support when sleeping. I have slept on the new mattress a few times now, and would rate it's firmness as definitely the firmer side of medium, rather than the 'medium' stated - but I have always preferred a firmer mattress so no complaints from me. To sum up, a well made mattress, reasonably priced for the quality, and most importantly, comfortable and supportive.

This is by far the best mattress I have ever had. It's comfortable, sturdy, very well constructed and since using it have had some of the best nights sleep for years. The best part for me though is the great support it gives my spine. I had blamed my back problems on just getting older, however I realise my old mattress, although firm, was a huge contributer to the problems. I love how this mattress is firm yet extremely comfortable at the same time. It is much higher than my previous mattress which adds a bit of luxruy to my bed frame, it does it justice and once dressed looks amazing. All in all I would thoroughly recommend this mattress to anyone who is looking for a firm yet comfortable mattress, and who would like a good night's sleep. And yes, it's insanely comfortable, simply heavenly. Now the problem I have is getting up out of it, it feels too nice to leave at times!

I like the topping. It provides a soft comfortable layer to lie on. So far hasnt flattened. I had it a month ish. Look's quality. Dosnt make my ribs ake when I lie on my front and i get back ake regular. From muscular n slip disc. But i sleep better on this. I would say the spring system is medium hard. Something like silent nights poket sprung award winner for this year. It dosnt envelop you like one i tryed. If your putting it on a slatted frame wood or other . I had to go and buy hard board to put over my frame to be able to use it . The spring system dose seem to give a little to become more soft after about a week. You may need deeper fitted sheets. The delivery men kindly took it to the top of the stairs for me. would have been to heavy for me alone.

After owning our past bed for 15 years decided to buy a new mattress. Took all day to try out beds at several different bed stores over town , before returning to Dreams. Very helpful staff offering lots of advice but giving us plenty of time to try beds and come to our decision. Even offered us a cup of coffee. Paid a deposit and given a delivery date on the spot. Bed arrived on day expected and even though a difficult spot up a narrow staircase to put the bed the two delivery men did it with no problem or complaint. Took a few days to get used to a different mattress, panicing at first we had made wrong decision but within the week was having the best sleep in years. Bad thing is its very hard to get out of bed in the morning !
