Slumberland vs Sealy Mattress Reviews

Before purchasing this Benson's mattress (<a href="http://bensonsforbeds.co.uk" target="_blank">bensonsforbeds.co.uk</a>), I discovered that the firmness of a mattress should be determined by a person's weight and sleeping position. There are many guides on the internet about this, such as sleepfoundation/best-mattress/mattress-firmness I am approx. 168 lbs in weight and a side sleeper, so I was very confident a good quality mattress which was medium firmness would be the best firmness for me. I am not disappointed with the Slumberland Natural Solutions 2000 medium firmness mattress. It is very comfortable although it feels much harder than my old mattress which was 17 years old and completely worn out. I chose the Natural Solutions 2000 mattress as it has natural fillings which are more breathable than foam layer mattresses. These natural fillings allow body heat to dissipate more efficiently than foam layered mattresses. This was very important to me as I live in a very well insulated building in a 1st floor flat, which also receives a lot of direct sunlight through the windows throughout the day and I tend to be a slightly 'hot' sleeper. I have not felt too warm in bed during August 2023 with my new Naturals mattress. The Slumberland Natural Solutions 2000 is also very good value for money when compared with other similar mattresses on the internet. The outer material feels high quality and so do the pocket springs when lying on them. It has 2000 pocket springs which helps isolate any movement a sleeping partner might make which helps to aid a good night's sleep, especially if someone sleeps with a 'restless' sleeper. Kyle was the friendly and helpful salesperson who I saw at Benson's showroom in Yeovil. I recommend the Slumberland Natural Solutions 2000 Medium Firmness mattress and Benson's showroom in Yeovil :)

Albeit expensive, what an absolutely fantastic mattress. We tried a few in the store (Llandudno) and were given loads of different tips, advice, and guidance, but this one really stood it for us in terms of quality, comfort, and price. We bought this alongside a King-sized ottoman and we could not be happier. Having used this mattress for just over two weeks, it's somewhat hard to believe, but we have slept-through the night every single night since we bought it, which isn't common for us! It is ridiculously comfortable, and just gets comfier the longer you lie on it. There is plenty of room to lie in comfort without disturbing the other person, and it doesn't seem to get too hot at night either. Despite the 1-star reviews - which I 100% disagree with - we have tried and tried to replicate the 'rolling over disturbs the other person' claim but it's just not true! The mattress seems to give a perfect balance when rolling over, and when awake or asleep, you can barely feel it. Once you're lying down, you just get comfier and you tend to stay in the same position without gettimg achey or fidgety which is great. I am a side-sleeper, and other half is a front-sleeper, and we adore this mattress. It suits us both perfectly. Our main concerns are that it is quite a tall mattress, so feels quite high off the ground/our bedside table at times (especially with our ottoman bedfeame), and extra deep fitted sheets only just cover the mattress on each side. We also just have a mattress topper, but are considering getting a full mattress cover (i.el wrap around the whole thing) instead, just to protect it that little bit more around the edges.

I wanted to use the mattress for a while before posting a review so after having slept on it for 2 months …. - woke up after the first night and realised I got up without backpain. I have a crushed vertebrae and most mornings I ache so this was a good start. 60 nights later I have also discovered that if I have back pain after a day I go to bed and I wake up with less pain so the mattress is definitely aiding my aches very well. - I suffer from insomnia and yet again since having bought this mattress I have been sleeping so well that even those nights are getting less and less. When I do have sleepless nights it is so comfortable it doesn't bother me to lay awake and just listen to some relaxing music. I have medium firmness by the way. The one thing I have noticed is that the topper is not holding its shape all that well. It's only me using the mattress so that's a bit of a concern at the moment and something I will need to watch as the months go by. But after a lifetime of mattresses and back pain and sleepless nights this is the one and only mattress that so far has aided that THE BEST. Definitely worth buying if you have struggled with some of the same issues I have.

I've had this mattress coming up to 3 years and it's the biggest mistake ever. It was amazing at first, I bought a form as I'm a stomach sleeper. Now I wake up multiple times in the night with back back as it dips in the middle.. apparently this is perfectly normal. It is apparently supposed to mould into your body, no it does not. It dips in the middle. I honestly this there is a design fault with the memory foam but Bensons for beds will never admit to this. I emailed bensons for beds customer service and the advice I received was to sleep on the edges to help flappen it down so it's more even. This isn't even a joke , I have the emails, I was told how I should sleep and what positions. I sleep alone and have down since I bought this bed, I'm not over weight either, that shouldn't even matter if I was over weight, I can't imagine how bad this mattress would be if it was getting bounced on regularly. I'm 5ft2 and 9st so for it to dip in the middle is absurd. I've had a mattress technician around today to measure it and do some test on it. I'm under no illusions bensons for beds are going to tell me it's all perfectly normal. Well it's not perfectly normal. I bought a memory foam topper hoping this would help but it hasn't. They told me I wasn't turning it enough. Wrong - I turned it every 3 weeks, now I'm doing it weekly.. The excuses they will make up to tell you this is normal for a mattres.. Well no it is not, I had a silent night memory foam for 10 years prior and not a single problem with that. Looks like I'll be buying another mattress as I know I can't carry on sleeping on this, I don't look forward to going to bed as I wake up multiple times. And how do I know it's the mattress keeping me awake? Well I've been away for 2 weeks and it was the best nights sleep I've had in a very long time as the mattress was amazing and I didn't get a back ache once. So please let my experience be a warning, there are loads of amazing mattresses out there, please don't waste your money on this. I'm not looking into getting a new mattress.

I loved this mattress in store. It was delightfully firm and supportive, while also being really comfortable and seemed like it would offer me the support I really wanted and solve the aches and discomfort I was experiencing with the mattress I had at the time. It was notably more than I intended to spend, but it was on offer and I felt it would be a worthwhile investment. I wish I hadn't bothered. I really wish I'd just gone for a much cheaper mattress from an online store. I think the quality would have been comparable, the cost a lot less, and the delivery much faster. Within a few weeks, despite turning the mattress as required every wee (and boy, is this mattress heavy) it had developed a noticeable dip. When I took photos of this dip and sent it to Bensons, I was told this was normal, did not look like a fault and therefore I could not get a refund. I was offered to exchange my mattress under the 40 night guarantee, but told that I would have to pay 10 percent of my original purchase price to do so, and pay another delivery charge of £49. Also, because my mattress had been on sale when I ordered it, if I simply chose the same mattress again (in the hopes this was just a faulty mattress) I'd have to pay the difference of several hundred pounds. I pressed the issue, and a technician was sent out to see if the product was faulty. He was very nice and empathised with my frustrations, but he said, according to Bensons, this type of dipping, even within weeks (and despite it causing me back pain) was considered acceptable. I understand that some settling is normal, but a dip of over 1cm (nearly 1.5cm) in under 3 weeks? That's not acceptable to me. Especially not at this rice point. It's very noticeable when lying on the 'edge' of the dip, and I can feel myself rolling in to it. I'm just really disappointed. The pre-sale service I received in store was great, but the product is clearly not of an acceptable quality, and the after-purchase customer service was very poor. I’ve been sleeping on this mattress for a few nights now and I’m pleased to say it’s making a positive difference. I was hoping for something supportive and comfortable, and this mattress delivers on both fronts. What I like The medium-firm feel hits a nice balance: not so hard that you feel like you’re lying on a plank, yet firm enough to feel properly supported. The product’s description calls it “medium-firm” and highlights the balance between support and plushness. The cooling feature is visible: the mattress uses INFUSE™ Black Diamond Graphite foam (which I must admit sounded fancy to me) to help with temperature regulation. According to the spec it “keeps you cool while cushioning your hips and back”. On warmer nights I’ve noticed I’m less restless. Excellent support for back and hips: I wake up without the usual niggles around the lower back and shoulders that I used to get with older mattresses. The “AlignSupport® coils” and plant-based ComfortCore layer appear to be doing their job. Good edge support: the mattress doesn’t feel as though you’ll roll off when you get close to the edge, and the usable surface feels generous. That’s helpful when two of us are sharing it. Quality and build: the cover feels robust, the stitching seems neat, and while I won’t pretend to have dismantled it, it gives a sense of quality rather than a bargain compromise. Where there’s room for improvement (or things to know) It’s a bit heavier/setup-intensive than my old one: rotating or manoeuvring it takes a bit of effort. If you prefer a super soft, sinking-in feel (the “body-hug” kind) this mattress might feel a little firm. Some reviews of the same family of mattresses note that side-sleepers (especially lightweight ones) might find medium-firm less contouring than they’d like. As with many new mattresses, there was a short adjustment period for my body clock and sleep-muscles to adapt. The first two nights felt slightly unfamiliar; by night three I was into it. Cooling is better than my previous mattress, but if you’re a very hot sleeper I wouldn’t say it’s magic. The spec claims better temperature control but some users of related models still noted some heat retention. Verdict In my view this is a strong pick if you want a mattress that blends support with comfort, especially if you’ve got a back that lets you know when the mattress is doing a poor job. For someone like me (part-time mystic, allotment keeper, old bones) it feels like a good investment in sleep rather than just a piece of furniture. I’d say I’m waking up more rested, and that alone makes the change worthwhile.

Lying on a bed in a shop fully clothed for a few minutes is one thing. Lying on it for 8 hours in thin nightwear is something else. I tried the Newton bed in the shop and it seemed comfortable, although it may have been there years and hundreds of customers may have bounced on it. Once delivered (and Bensons were totally professional in that regard) I got backache after one night. Others have remarked their bed seemed firmer than in the shop. Dreams sell the same mattress but they call it Hagen and rate it very firm which it certainly is. I found I could get my hands behind the small of my back and exactly the same when I lay on the floor !! I also got cubital tunnel syndrome (hard bed pressed on shoulder and elbow causing pain down arm and little finger went numb !) A topper improved things a bit but if you need a topper to make your bed comfy you're probably lying on the wrong bed ! After a week of pain I decided to switch to a medium Newton which you wouldn't know existed if you only went in the store and didn't look online. I zoom called Bensons HQ who confirmed none of their shops displayed it. So why didn't I order a medium in the first place ? I didn't like the idea of buying a bed I hadn't tried first (if that is any guide) but in the end I was forced to ! Now medium doesn't mean soft. It just means slightly less firm !! I phoned Sealy HQ who explained the only difference is Newton Medium has firm and medium foam, not extra firm foam like their firm version. I'd give Newton firm a 9/10 rating for firmness and Newton Medium 7/10 although that may ease to a 6 in a few months. Incidentally I did consider the Bronte too. I had a pillow top but found it got frayed and torn after 6 years (I'm a restless sleeper), was heavier to turn, higher and the sheets didn't fit. As others have mentioned I found it warm to lie on after just 10 minutes so wondered how hot it would be after 8 hours. To be brutally honest I didn't think it worth an extra £400 which is a lot for a pensioner ! If you want a soft top buy a mattress topper for the Newton Medium and save yourself the extra expense. A final point, I found the Newton Medium somewhat lighter than the firm, probably due to the lack of hard heavy-duty foam.

Absolutely horrible. This is a completely unbiased review after owning it for almost 4 months now, and rotating it around as per instructions. After trying out a few beds in various stores and doing some research into the kind of bed I wanted in an Extra Firm, this was one was the best *when I tried laying down on it in store*. However, when I received this, it felt like a completely different mattress - soft, pudgy, sinks down in the middle (what Central zoning PowerPack/lumbar support technology? Is this a scam?) and downright uncomfortable. I got this to help with a back injury I suffered a while back, so that means solid support that keeps that back held up firm, but this was the opposite, and the softness of it actually caused me more pain and discomfort in the long run. EdgeGuard - newsflash: it has no EdgeGuard support or technology in it. You roll off the edge just like on a standard mattress. Extra Firm rating: Nothing more than a lie. There is nothing about this that could classify it as extra firm. Other than its bad quality, the firmness rating would be medium to firm. Definitely not Extra Firm, and it was definitely not the same mattress I tried in store. The only positives were the delivery crew were amazing. Top lads. I really regret not going with my initial option from mattressonline, which had the same specs and was cheaper too. I would not even pay £200 for this rubbish.

In the store this was the most comfortable mattress. We tried nearly every mattress in the shop. The selling point was the construction of the mattress and the salespersons insistence this was one of the most popular and highly rated mattress in the U.K. We bought the mattress and the delivery was arranged. First class service. Once the mattress has been delivered and the packaging removed, the smell was overpowering in the room. This was described to us as the mattress "off gassing" and the smell would dissipate within 48 hours. Luckily we have extra bedroom so it was left to vent its gasses. Two weeks later I decided to make up the bed even though the "off gassing" was still there.We have slept in it once, my wife who suffers from asthma now sleeps in the spare room. She awoke in the night in a coughing fit. I am trying to use the bed myself but I wake up with this smell wafting from the bed. This smell was not evident in the showroom. The current advice is to place it in the garage to air properly. I am so angry about this mattress. It's a shame because we have used bensonforbeds regularly and never had any issue before. This mattress will be withdrawn from sale if they want loyal custom.
