Why our sleep experts loved it
I got my hands on the Silentnight Deluxe Box Top Mirapocket 2000 Limited Edition Mattress recently and it definitely makes a first impression. It's a proper tall one at 39cm, so it looks and feels like a luxury hotel-style mattress as soon as you see it on the bed. Running my hand across the top, the box top has that cushioned, pillowy feel you expect, and when I pressed down with my palm the 8cm Super Soft Foam gave way quickly before the support kicked in underneath. The box top spreads right to the edges of your mattress too, giving you more sleeping space, although do bear in mind that the extra height can mean your fitted sheets need a deeper drop than standard.
The Deluxe Box Top Mirapocket 2000 is truly luxurious. Not only is it perfectly crafted from the most comfortable materials but at a plush and generous 39cm deep, it's our deepest mattress ever! In person, that depth is a bit of a double-edged sword, it feels indulgent, but it can also make the bed sit noticeably higher, especially if you're putting it on top of a chunky base. We're certain you'll love the decadent
It features 2000 responsive Mirapocket springs which gives you the perfect support - and they're covered with a sumptuous 8cm layer of Super Soft Foam for extra comfort. Lying on it on my back, I could feel the pocket springs responding in a more 'individual' way than an open coil mattress, and my hips stayed nicely level rather than sinking right through the comfort layer. On my side though, that softer, gentler support rating still won't suit everyone, if you like a firmer feel or you need really strong pushback through the midsection, this could feel a bit too yielding. Edge support is decent for a box top, but when I sat right on the side to put my socks on, there was still a bit of squash, so if you perch on the edge a lot, it's something to keep in mind.
It's hypo-allergenic for your peace of mind, has a softer, gentler support rating and is made in the UK. The mattress is also no-turn, single-sided and comes with 5 year guarantee and free next day delivery! The no-turn part is handy, but it does mean you can't flip it to even out wear, so I'd be rotating it regularly if you want it to stay feeling consistent. Also, at this sort of premium spec, I'd personally like to see a longer guarantee than 5 years, as plenty of rivals go further.
