A mattress is one of the most important decisions you'll make and you deserve to sleep well. That's why today we are looking at the Dunlopillo Lair 1190 Hybrid Mattress available from a number of retailers as part of a new online-mattress-retailer-appeasing range from Dunlopillo. Being a hybrid mattress, this one aims to provide the best of both worlds by offering unbeatable comfort and tailored contouring support, but does it live up to those demands? Let's break it down.
Starting with that hybrid support layer and you get a high quality pocket spring layer which is found in many moderate to high priced mattresses in various quantities. Typically the number of springs in a pocket spring mattress reflects the quality to a certain degree and with 1190 contouring pockets working individually you will find a comfortable night's sleep is to be had. That's not all though as you also get a generous helping (50mm) of Dunlopillo's signature pure latex which has most of the comforting properties of more popular materials like memory foam, but without many of the downsides, particularly heat retention which causes sweating which causes tossing and turning which, predictably interrupts your REM sleep and causes you to sleep worse. All of those pitfalls avoided with a fantastic latex layer.
If you look through most of my other reviews you'll see that this pocket-spring and latex combination is one of my favourite, the pocket springs outlast and outperform other base layers while the latex, in my opinion, matches memory foam for comfort while having non of the pitfalls commonly associated with it. it's a bit of a win-win.
Available as a medium-firm tension, this mattress will favour those who prefer to sleep on their stomachs or backs. For those who sleep on their side, suitability will be determined by your body frame as those with hourglass figures may find they don't get full contact support. Those slightly heavier than average would likely find this suitable for sleeping on the side though as your body will naturally depress the pocket springs to a greater amount than someone lighter. For those who do not fit this profile, Dunlopillo do have the Dunlopillo Pad mattress which has much the same make-up as this one in a medium tension which may suit better.
Finally, thanks to the latex inside the mattress this product is naturally hypoallergenic making it ideally suited to those that are looking for a healthier and cleaner nights sleep, naturally protecting from dust mites and mildew.

Reasons to Buy
Well known brand who have nearly a century of experience in the industry.

Naturally hypoallergenic, helping those in need.

Surprisingly low price point given the brands history in the top-tier.
Reasons to Avoid
I always try to find a few cons that might put people off, but in this instance it's available for fast delivery from a retailer you can trust, in sizing to suit most rooms and in my personal favourite combination of pocket springs and latex. Affordability may still pinch for those in the squeezed middle right now, particularly with everything going on in the world, but there is genuine value for money here. Being picky I prefer medium tension mattresses as more of a one-size-fits-all approach to sleep, but Dunlopillo have made that option available with their other product in the range, the Pad.
