Hypnos is a leading manufacturer of mattresses and beds, and the Luxurious Earth 03 is one of their flagship mattresses, although I confess, the naming convention leaves something to be desired. It's designed to provide comfort and support while you sleep, and it's made with the finest quality materials available in dense layers that stack for additional comfort. You can choose from two tension options, medium and firm, both of which offer more than sufficient body contouring and support. It's also hypoallergenic, making it a great choice for those with allergies. One thing I will say though, this is a premium build and it feels like it, but you do pay for it and at this sort of price I always want to see the little practical touches nailed too, like proper side handles for rotating. Let's look at the features and benefits of this mattress in more detail.
The Base Layer The Hypnos Luxurious Earth 03 Mattress is made with pocket springs in the base layer, which are individually pocketed coils that are encased in a fabric pocket. This design allows the bed to conform to the shape of your body while you sleep, providing extra comfort and support. The pocket springs are also designed to reduce motion transfer, so if your partner moves during the night, you won't be disturbed. This layer is also where the majority of tension resides, meaning that medium or firm (whichever you choose) designation will typically come from here. Pocket springs remain my favourite and for good reason, they simply outperform everything else on the market. Hypnos have put their own twist on these, literally, with ReActivePro™ 8-turn that adds another turn in the spring making it more reactive and even better for body contouring.
When I pressed down with my palm and then my forearm, you can feel the springs responding in a more 'individual' way rather than that whole-mattress bounce you get on open coil. Sitting on the side, the edge held up better than I expected for something with a plush top, but you still get a bit of dip, so if you perch on the edge to put socks on every morning, it's not as rigid as some firmer, flatter hybrids. Motion-wise it should do a decent job, but if you're super sensitive to a partner turning over, a thicker foam comfort build can sometimes isolate movement a touch more than a spring-led feel like this.
The middle layers You don't normally get additional layers in a mattress, most have a base layer and a comfort layer without much in between. Hypnos have dressed the Luxurious Earth range up with a bit more flare though and you instead get a bunch of middle layers; additional comfort that pairs beautifully to create a uniquely soft and comfortable upper section of the product. Here then, is where the product also features latex, which is a natural material made from rubber trees. Latex is highly durable and provides excellent support, making it a great choice for those who need extra support for their back or neck. Latex is also naturally hypoallergenic, so it's a great choice if you suffer from allergies.
Lying on it, that latex gives you a gentle push-back rather than that slow sink you get from memory foam, which I personally prefer because it feels easier to move around on. If you're expecting a big 'hug', you might be a bit underwhelmed, it's more buoyant than cuddly.
The comfort layer Onto that upper layer and The Hypnos Luxurious Earth 03 Mattress is also made with organic wool (1.5 fleeces worth to be exact), which is a natural material that helps to regulate body temperature. Wool is a breathable material, so it helps to keep you cool during the summer and warm during the winter. It's also naturally hypoallergenic, so it's a great choice for those with allergies. What's more, 1.5 fleeces worth of the material makes it so dense that it is unfair to compare this product to other wool mattresses as the depth really is something to behold. The softness felt in natural wool combined with the breathability makes for all-season comfort that will delight.
Running my hand across the surface, it has that proper 'wooly' loft to it, not the thin token layer you sometimes see. On my back, my hips felt nicely supported without feeling like I was perched on top, but on my side I could see lighter side sleepers (say under about 70kg) finding the firmer tension a bit too pushy around the shoulder. Wool is great for temperature regulation, but if you like a super-smooth, tight, flat sleeping surface, this will feel more textured and lofty.
The secondary comfort layer in the pillow top The Hypnos Luxurious Earth 03 Mattress also features a pillow top, which is designed to provide extra cushioning for the head and neck. The pillow top features a sewn-in pillow of extra fillings and is able to contour to the shape of the head and neck. The pillow top is also designed to be breathable, much like the rest of this premium product, so it helps to keep the mattress cool throughout the night. There is a caveat that some people do not like pillow tops and find them to be a bit too ‘puffy’, to help combat this you do have non-pillow top variants in the rest of the Luxurious Earth range.
In person, the pillow top is definitely noticeable, it's got that hotel-luxe look and feel, but it does mean the mattress sits taller and can feel a touch less 'neat' once it's dressed. If you like a really taut, flat finish, or you hate any kind of stitched topper feel, I'd genuinely steer you toward one of the non-pillow top options in the range.

For me personally, it sits in the 'proper premium' bracket because it feels deep, springy, and naturally plush without turning into a swampy memory foam sink. The flip side is that it's not going to suit everyone, the pillow top and wool loft can feel a bit too much if you want a flatter, firmer, more minimal surface, and the firmer tension could be a bit unforgiving for lighter side sleepers.
