Why our sleep experts loved it
Do you toss and turn all night long? Do you wake up with aches and pains in the morning? Perhaps you struggle to get a good night’s sleep on a regular basis? You’re not alone -- almost everyone struggles to get enough sleep at some point or another. But getting high-quality, restful sleep is important for your health in many ways. It helps your body repair itself after a long day, as well as keeping your mind clear and alert. If you’re having issues getting enough shut-eye, it might be time to upgrade your mattress and with the orthopaedic-like firm feel of the Silentnight Sleep Vitality Boost Mattress, you might get exactly what you need. Let’s dive into the specifics of the mattress and see whether it will prove to be suitable for you.
Let’s start with the manufacturer. Silentnight is an established mattress manufacturer that has been manufacturing mattresses for nearly a century, first starting in 1946 and being renowned for their great quality to price proposition. The brand enjoys high regard, evidenced by the vast array of mattresses in its range that have been voted ‘Best Buy’ several times by Which? Readers in the past.
Onto the mattress itself and let’s work from the bottom upward, starting with the base layer. The base layer in the Sleep Vitality Boost is a mirapocket spring solution. This is a cracking start as it outperforms the miracoil equivalents for its strong body contouring and improved posture support. The base layer comes in a firmer tension that makes it more suitable for back sleepers over side sleepers, as such this mattress will suit those looking for enhanced back and neck support. Next up is the comfort layers and Silentnight have opted for a deep latex comfort layer which is one of our more preferable layers. The main benefits to latex are around its body moulding properties, effectively mimicking everything we all know and love about memory foam. The comparisons stop there however as the latex layer has none of the common pitfalls of memory foam, instead maximising breath-ability and ensuring you get a hygienic and cooling nights sleep that is ideal for all seasons.
So who exactly will this mattress not suit? The price point is reasonable if potentially a little out of many peoples budget so those with less to spend may find the Sleep Vitality Boost unsuitable in that regard. Beyond that though, its fairly smooth sailing for purchasers as the latex top layer and pocket springs work really well to create a breathable all season experience with a great premium quality feel. The firmer tension may prove a bit too stiff for side sleepers of an average body mass, however, the latex comfort above might allow just enough sinkage to account for moderate and occasional combination sleeping.
Onto where this mattress competes and we would have this competing firmly in the mid-range to premium arena, punching slightly above its price point for good quality materials since we really do like the mirapocket base and latex comfort.
Customer feedback is still coming in on this particular model since it is so new, however, this combination is a fairly typical offering from the manufacturer and one that we have seen with huge success in the past. This one comes loaded with a deeper layer of latex than other models but as a general combination, customers love it with feedback generally speaking positively about the amount of good zonal support found in Mirapocket base layers combined with the sinking and memory like properties of good quality latex.
