Tests & Verdict

Here we collect tests, guides and product reviews so that you can create a picture of what others think about the product. This analysis and review is based on my experience and 12+ years of industry insight.

Sealys PostureTech support system continually outperforms its price point, providing great quality sleep at a reasonable price.

Firm tension is ideal for back and stomach sleepers and those looking for an orthopaedic feel.

Impressive 5 year guarantee that goes beyond the average and gives additional confidence.

Still a new model in the range and so user reviews are still coming in. Long term reviews may be some way out.

Firm tension will likely not suit side sleepers.

Fairly long lead time of 3 weeks at time of writing will likely put off those who need it in a hurry.

Why our sleep experts loved it

The Sealy Broxton Firm Support Mattress promises a firm yet comfortable sleeping surface, with an emphasis on back and stomach sleepers. This review will assess various aspects of the mattress, including its construction, materials and comfort. Let’s dive into the different areas and see whether this could be the one for you.

Construction & Materials

The Sealy Broxton Firm Mattress is handcrafted, with careful attention to detail and craftsmanship. It incorporates Sealy’s PostureTech core support, a responsive spring system designed to deliver firmness and body support where it is most required. As the pressure increases, the spring system responds by increasing its firmness for deep support and pressure relief making for an ideal orthopaedic-feel to your nights sleep.

More about the core support offered in the spring system and you also get a central zoning power pack for additional lumbar support, acting as a shock absorber, which contributes to the mattress’s longevity. An Edge Guard technology also ensures a firm edge, allowing users to maximise their surface area for sleep and movement.

Above the support layer and into the comfort layers about and the product is layered with Tencel fibres known for breathability and moisture management, which help maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature. The outer layer is a premium Belgian damask cover, treated with Pro-Shield for allergen resistance making it ideal for those looking for a more hygienic nights sleep.

What does this mean for how it feels? Well, the twice-tempered spring system and robust edge guard provide a solid foundation for durability while the hand-tufted finish also reduces settlement issues, increasing the mattress's lifespan and increasing the firmness slightly. The result of this is a product better suited to back and stomach sleepers rather than side sleepers, although some combination sleepers will still find it suitable.

Recommendations

The Sealy Broxton Firm Mattress is likely to be an excellent choice for back and stomach sleepers who prefer a firm surface while the temperature regulation features make it suitable for those who tend to sleep hot. However, side sleepers or those who prefer a softer, more cushioned sleeping surface might want to consider a medium tension mattress.

Finally, the mattress boasts of an endorsement from Allergy UK due to its Pro-Shield treated cover, making it a suitable choice for allergy sufferers. Being handcrafted by Sealy, it also reflects well-made British quality and looks to be a good choice for a large portion of back sleepers.

This is our second time buying this mattress. We were sad to have to leave our old one at our old house so bought a new one without hesitation and it's definitely lived up to our expectations. Firm and comfy! We sleep really well on it. I love the summer and winter feature too.

First night we had a fantastic sleep, but within the 1st couple of days you could feel it was dipping where you had been laying. Now you can actually see it dips with an obvious bulge running down the middle. Very very disappointed not exactly cheap.

Oh so wonderful. I love my new mattress. The winter side is so cosy I was sceptical but it is so snug. You can feel the warmth being thrown back at you. Only niggle the print to say which side is which is very small on the mattress label.

We find the mattress very comfortable. We have back problems and need a firm but comfortable support. We were able to purchase the product as a sale item, making it a bargain. The anti-roll effect of the mattress is very effective.

The buttons on the mattress does make an impression after sleeping on it through the sheets so we had to buy a topper/protector which is now a lot better. I like the fact you can turn it around for summer and winter.

I find this mattress comfortable although I'm still getting used to it. I think it takes a while for a new the mattress to soften a little. But it is comfy and seems well made. I hope it lasts a good few years.

A good mattress at a fair price, providing comfort and affordability. You can also turn this mattress which will give it a longer life. It's early days but if it lasts 7 years I will be very happy.
