Ravello Ortho Comfort Mattress Review

Today we're looking at the Ravello Ortho Comfort Mattress, an orthopaedic support mattress that is ideal for back and neck support but at a far more reasonable price point than the competition. Sold exclusively by Bensons for Beds, this product ticks a lot of boxes at a lower than expected price point. Let's dive into the specifics.

The support layer in this mattress features a premium pocket spring layer which is my personal favourite support system and one which has worked well and proven itself for decades. Longevity tends to be better in pocket sprung mattresses, as does performance which sees unique body contouring at a fantastic price point.

Much like many others in the lineup, we also see a eco fibre layer taking up the comfort layer and it looks to do an impressive job. Eco fibres are environmentally friendly, giving great comfort and softness while still remaining durable.

Another benefit of the support layer is its roll-together protection. This ensures you do not disturb your partner while you sleep due to the individually pocketed springs and is unique to this support layer.

Reasons to Buy

5 year guarantee is unexpected for this price point

Pocket springs are a personal favourite that constantly win out

Double sided so extra-durable thanks to the comfort layer being on both sides. Turn it over to prevent over use and settlement issues.

Two tensions available for mass adoption, medium +. firm

This will be a fan favourite. It has all the makings of a decent mattress with non of the typical downsides and a price point that is very competitive.

Reasons to Avoid

If you are coming from a memory foam comfort layer you may find the eco fibres to not be as comfortable when you first lay down however, once you have sunk into each mattress the comparisons should become noticeable

What Makes The Ravello Ortho Comfort Mattress Great?

Made in Britain

These are made and manufactured in the Great Britain, meaning that they all meet the same exceptional quality and durability that we expect from genuine Great Britain manufacturing.

5-year guarantee

This is an exceptional guarantee that is fairly uncommon within the industry, this shows that the retailer and supplier both have huge confidence in the product that they are selling. Any problems in the first 5 years? Call them and they will sort it.

Mattress height: 26cm

26cm is fairly deep for a mattress and comes with enough depth to feature many good quality components and comfort layers necessary to get a good nights sleep

Individually encased pocket springs for support and individual comfort to ensure no roll together

Pocket springs are probably the best support layer you can get in a mattress helping to provide measured and even support across your body where you need it most. What's more, the unique feeling of pocket springs hugs each point of your body, offering contouring across each pressure point to relieve aches and pains. Lesser models will frequently include alternatives to pocket springs like open coil traditional springs and reflex foam. Do not be fooled, while pocket springs are often slightly more money than their counterparts, you are typically getting a better spring system and base layer.

Available in sizes: Single, Small Double, Double, King and Super King

This mattress is not available in custom sizes, caravan sizes or ikea sizes. Instead, this mattress is available in the universally common mattress sizes to suit most people, my preference is a king size, big enough to starfish in while being small enough to fit in most rooms comfortably.

BSI - British Standard Kitemark™ accredited

The UK has some of the strictest standards of manufacture with which to comply too. This is great news for the consumer as you can be sure of a quality product.

Total 1000 pocket springs for premium comfort and support

Pocket springs are a great support layer. Available in a variety of firmness's, the quality of a spring system is generally determined by the spring count. With 1000 springs this mattress represents a good quality to cost ratio, providing enough springs to successfully contour to your body and provide you with a great nights sleep.

Upholstered in the finest Belgian damask fabric for a superb feel

Frames can come in numerous different materials, and designs. This one in particular comes with fabric upholstered in a modern design that is sure to leave guests envious of it's fantastic style and comfort.

Deep quality luxury fillings for excellent durability and resilience

With the average life expectancy of a mattress pegged at around 7 years,  it can be extremely important to make sure that you get a product that is both durable and resilient. These mattresses come with plenty of deep and luxurious fillings that may mean that the mattress is a little deeper than you may be accustomed to.

Double sided - Flip and turn regularly to prolong mattress

A double sided mattress is one that comes with comfort layers on both sides. The benefit of this for the customer is that you get twice the surface area through a series of rotation and flipping that should become second nature to you as part of the recommended mattress care guidelines. A mattress that can be flipped means you get better settlement of springs and fillings over time which may also prevent dipping over the long term.

Firmness rating: Medium

A medium tension mattress is largely suitable for most people of average BMI. Not too soft, nor too firm this mattress has enough softness in the tension to allow you to sink, while providing enough support to contour to your body.

Orthopaedic for added support

Ideal for those that suffer from neck and back pain, this mattress comes with additional support to aid and contour to your body to better relieve aches and pains.
