Becky's Thoughts On The Flaxby Natures Haven All Seasons Mattress

Flaxby is a sub-brand of the ever-popular Harrison Spinks and this is one of the newest in the range named the Flaxby Natures Haven All Seasons Mattress. With 3400 Cortec™ Pocket springs specially designed by Harison Spinks themselves, these are 100% recyclable and created to be lighter than normal pocket springs for better airflow and temperature control.

What I particularly love about the Flaxby Natures Haven All Seasons Mattress is that it comes in both medium and firm tensions giving you the flexibility to choose the right tension for you. I personally prefer the medium in this mattress, it is the better all rounder, though if you have back or neck pain or a higher BMI than average and do not sleep on your side, the firm may be a great choice.

With a 5 year guarantee, substantially longer than the industry standard 1 year guarantee, you are covered for effectively the entire lifespan of the product.

What Makes The Flaxby Natures Haven All Seasons Mattress Great?

Made in the UK

These are made and manufactured in the UK, meaning that they all meet the same exceptional quality and durability that we expect from genuine UK manufacturing.

Exclusively handmade by Harrison Spinks in the UK

Handcrafted in the UK to the highest standards by skilled bedmakers. These superior quality mattresses offer sustainable luxury using the finest natural fillings. They are 100% foam, glue and FR chemical-free, they product zero landfill and even the Cortec™ Quad springs are recyclable.

Comfort Grade - Medium or Firm

Medium Firm is the optimal firmness for a mattress if you are looking for comfort but also suffer from some minor back problems. This is because this type of mattress will ease the amount of strain on your muscles but not in such a way to deter comfort, ensuring a great nights sleep

5 year guarantee

A 5 year guarantee is quite rare in the industry and is a great indicator of the retailer beleiving in their product. Anything go wrong in the next 5 years, no drama, get it replaced.

Hand-tufted

Hand Tufting is a labor intensive process that involves securing the fittings to a mattress rather than having them operate independently and loose within. This small act not only secures, but also leads to the mattress lasting longer and feeling firmer. A hand-tufted mattress is great for anyone looking for additional stability while they sleep.

Depth: 20cm

The industry standard for mattress depth is 7 inches, with most offering a comfortable 10 to 14 inches. Generally, the higher the load, the deeper it needs to be. But quality is important as a well-built 10-inch mattress can be equally as comfortable and supportive as a budget 12-inch mattress. This 8 inch mattress site just above the most popular section of the scale, generally the safe choice to cover a wide range of sleepers.

Flaxby Care Guide

Flaxby offer care instructions to help get the most from your new addition. The instruction cover maintaining its appearance such as removing dirt and stains. It includes how to avoid damage from water and hot surfaces as well as actions to avoid like inadvertently removing fire-retardant coating. These instructions can come coupled with the warranty. It is important to follow the care instructions as not to void this warranty.

About Flaxby

The Flaxby collection by Harrison Spinks is hand-built by British craftsmanship and made exclusively for Dreams. Their mattresses consist of a pocket spring core coupled with a layer of tightly grouped mini pocket springs to fully contour to your body, relieving pressure points and providing support. Their unique perforated sides push airflow towards the surface keeping the mattress well ventilated and the temperature regulated. Even the Flaxby collection bed bases contain 2000 pocket springs to provide additional support. Add the finishing touch with their hand-crafted headboards, pick from customisable designs in luxurious fabrics to match your divan.

Single sided - Rotate head to toe weekly for the first three months, then every month thereafter

A single sided mattress is typical for the industry and relates to how  a mattress has the comfort layer on one side of the mattress. only This means that the mattress only needs to be rotated rather than flipped. The benefit of single sided mattresses is that they require less upkeep in that there's no flipping, but also, there's less components involved in the creation which saves costs.

Pure and natural fillings

Pure and natural fillings are typically from animal or plant fibers. These can include: Wool, Cashmere, Hemp or Latex commonly.

Exclusively handmade by Harrison Spinks

Harrison Spinks product mattresses that are handmade in Yorkshire. They are filled with quality, long-lasting and natural mattress fillings as a comfort layer and further enhanced  by innovative pocket springs as a support layer. Harrison Spinks mattresses are renowned worldwide for their quality.

20cm depth

20cm of mattress depth is enough to house a typical good quality spring system with decent support and comfort layers while also being thin enough to accessorise with standard mattress sheets. No need for deeper sheets and further purchases as a result.

Super-soft sleeping surface

Traditionally hand-tufted to keep fillings aligned

A tufted mattress is often a sign of high quality, Unlike quilted mattress which binds the soft layer directly to the other layers, traditional tufting uses several thick straps to hold the layers together through the spring unit, binding it at each side.

This mattress is single-sided

A single sided mattress will still need to be rotated to prevent settlement issues and potential dipping, however, it does not need to be flipped. The fillings and support are on one side only and as such, flipping would result in a very uncomfortable mattress half the time.

100% recyclable Cortec™ pocket spring unit

The ideal choice in construction when choosing a mattress, pocket sprung mattresses offer, in our opinion, the best combination of support and comfort. The number of pocket springs can be equally important however

Pure, natural cotton filling

Chemical-free, super-soft sleeping surface

A chemical-free mattress is one that contains no toxic chemicals that could potentially cause harm to your health. These mattresses are often made from natural materials, such as organic cotton or wool, which are free of pesticides and herbicides. If you’re looking for a new mattress, it’s worth considering a chemical-free alternative.

Split/zipped comfort grade options to keep both you and your partner sleeping happy

This product is available in multiple firmness grades, better than that however, is that both people sleeping on a mattress can have a completely different experience due to the different firmness ratings in each side. This means when your partner sleeps differently, has a different BMI and different requirements, they can have equal comfort, support and a great nights sleep.

Secured edges with two rows of hand stitching

Secured edges with hand stitching ensures the product is rugged enough to deal with the next 7-8 years of rotating and flipping that will become part of your 1-3 monthly routine. Weak edge support and poor stitching would otherwise cause problems a few years into your purchase.

5-year guarantee as standard

We love a good 5 year guarantee. With 1 year as standard for the vast majority of the mattress industry, 5 years is a pleasant surprise. Remember, the average mattress is typically replaced after a 7 year cycle so being able to have cover for any problems for most of that lifetime is a huge piece of mind benefit that often get's overlooked. Consider also, how much the brand and retailer clearly believe in the product, it is not in their best interests to offer a guarantee on something of poor quality.

Rotate regularly - rotate head to toe once a week for the first three months, then just once a month.

This is a mattress that should be rotated in order to ensure that fillings settle appropriately. Rotating also prevents any dipping.

Money well spent!

I was prompted to replace my mattress by a new partner after putting up with my old mattress for about 20 years. If only I had met her earlier - the new mattress has completely transformed my night's sleep and it is now a pleasure to get into bed each night. I am going to bed earlier each night to make the most of it. The whole process at the Dreams store was good and we had plenty of time to try out a number of mattresses without undue interference from the staff who went out of their way to make us both a cup of tea and bring it up to us.

Magnificent mattress..great nights of sleep!

Magnificent mattress! We're catching up on sleep since we've received this mattress, it's so relaxing and supportive for our bodies to relax well. And we're glad this one matched with us, as it's also mostly made of natural products. The Dreams staff in Ayr helped us greatly and we really appreciate their service. Good communication after we've placed our order.

Spent 9 Months Searching And Found The One

Spent alot of time looking for a new mattress. I loved this mattress in the Dreams store so bought it in a medium. Really happy with it, very comfortable, its more than what I was looking to spend on a mattress but its worth the money. Love the way it keeps you warm in winter but not too warm, perfect temperature. Thanks to Harrisons Spinks and thanks to Dreams.
