Becky's Thoughts On The Flaxby Natures Finest 5900 Pillow Top Mattress

What stands out about the Flaxby Natures Finest 5900 Pillow Top Mattress is that you actually have two firmness ratings to choose from, both soft and medium. The benefit of this is you get the benefits of a very complete package as par as specifications go, with the additional flexibility of selecting the firmness for your own preference.

I personally prefer the soft mattress as I have a lower BMI than average and like to sleep on my side, however, those of an average BMI along with back sleepers will want to focus their attention toward the medium variety.

With 5900 pocket springs, this is on the extreme high end in terms of quality of components.. Pocket springs as a base layer are the ideal choice for a mattress of this quality as they contour to your body and ensure that each area of your body is adequately supported.

At 30cm of depth, there's a decent chunk of top layer fillings too, made up of pure, natural fillings including Egyptian cotton, wool and hemp all of which is nicely finished off with a pillow top for that final splash of comfort.

A 5 year guarantee is expected given the price point, however, still rare for an industry often plagued by 1 year guarantees.

Make no mistake, this is a very premium product and as such you will be paying a premium price, however,  it still works out fairly cheap when you consider that people keep a mattress for an average of 7 years.

What Makes The Flaxby Natures Finest 5900 Pillow Top Mattress Great?

This natural mattress is filled with luxury pure fibres, these have breathable properties to ensure a cool and comfortable sleep. The Cortec springs are designed to ensure resilience and independent support which provides even bodyweight distribution.

Comfort grade - soft or medium

A Medium firmness mattress is the most common build offered due to the range of suitability offered in such a mattress. This type of mattress will be better suited toward averagely weighted people, while lighter people should opt for a medium-light, and heavier people considering a medium-firm.

Add the finishing touch with their hand-crafted headboards, pick from customisable designs in luxurious fabrics to match your divan.

Traditionally hand-tufted to keep fillings aligned

A tufted mattress is often a sign of high quality, Unlike quilted mattress which binds the soft layer directly to the other layers, traditional tufting uses several thick straps to hold the layers together through the spring unit, binding it at each side.

This mattress is single-sided

A single sided mattress will still need to be rotated to prevent settlement issues and potential dipping, however, it does not need to be flipped. The fillings and support are on one side only and as such, flipping would result in a very uncomfortable mattress half the time.

100% recyclable Cortec™ pocket spring unit

The ideal choice in construction when choosing a mattress, pocket sprung mattresses offer, in our opinion, the best combination of support and comfort. The number of pocket springs can be equally important however

Split/zipped comfort grade options to keep both you and your partner sleeping happy

This product is available in multiple firmness grades, better than that however, is that both people sleeping on a mattress can have a completely different experience due to the different firmness ratings in each side. This means when your partner sleeps differently, has a different BMI and different requirements, they can have equal comfort, support and a great nights sleep.

Secured edges with two rows of hand stitching

Secured edges with hand stitching ensures the product is rugged enough to deal with the next 7-8 years of rotating and flipping that will become part of your 1-3 monthly routine. Weak edge support and poor stitching would otherwise cause problems a few years into your purchase.

5-year guarantee as standard

We love a good 5 year guarantee. With 1 year as standard for the vast majority of the mattress industry, 5 years is a pleasant surprise. Remember, the average mattress is typically replaced after a 7 year cycle so being able to have cover for any problems for most of that lifetime is a huge piece of mind benefit that often get's overlooked. Consider also, how much the brand and retailer clearly believe in the product, it is not in their best interests to offer a guarantee on something of poor quality.

Rotate regularly - rotate head to toe once a week for the first three months, then just once a month.

This is a mattress that should be rotated in order to ensure that fillings settle appropriately. Rotating also prevents any dipping.
