Key Performance Indicators KPI question mark

Our Key Performance Indicators are produced using a combination of specification-heavy algoritmic data points and user reviews. For example, a firm pocket spring support layer is more breathable and offers better back support but may prove unsuitable for side sleepers, the reverse is true for a soft-medium tension reflex foam support layer. This is one of 100+ datapoints considered when generating the below ratings.

Suitability

*Assuming average weight, suitability will vary dependant on body type, use the quiz above for a more tailored guide.
  • Back Sleepers
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • The amount of support offered from a mattress will vary depending on the firmness of the tension and the type of support layer used. Based on a person of average build.
  • Side Sleepers
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • If you sleep on your side you typically need a supportive tension that is not too firm, nor too soft. This is because your hips and shoulders need adequate sinkage.
  • Stomach Sleepers
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Stomach sleepers need a reasonable amount of tension in the base support layer to adequately offer body contouring and help prevent aches and pains. Results will vary based on your build.

Performance

  • Breathability
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Mattresses that feature breathable materials help promote airflow and keep you cool making for a more hygienic night's sleep.
  • Turning on mattress
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Certain materials like memory foam can make it difficult to move about on the mattress while you toss and turn. Same too for pillow tops which can create a cloud like sensation which can make manoeuvrability challenging.
  • Stability
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Depending on the type of support layer in place can have an impact on stability, edge to edge support and roll together prevention. Pocket springs of a firmer tension will have better stability than open coil soft tension, for example.

Odour

  • Initial Odour
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Materials in mattresses, particularly memory foam and rolled bed-in-a-box mattresses can have an initial odour, this is typically short term and reduces considerably within 24 hours.
  • Long Standing Odour
    ★★★★★
    ★★★★★
  • Certain materials inside different mattresses can produce a small odour. Typically this is short term rather than long standing but there are minor exceptions.

What Makes The Coolflex ProPedic™ Pocket Mattress Great?

ProPedic™ Pocket Springs

ProPedic™ pocket springs have many of the same properties as traditional pocket springs (which we love), but with a little bit ore sensitivity that sees them react to more sensitive movements. This helps create a richer body-contouring effect that ensures all parts of the body are supported.

ProReact™ Comfort Foam

Unique to Coolflex, the ProReact™ Comfort Foam is a reactive variant of reflex foam that responds to your touch and offers a good degree of comfort. The amount on tension can vary depending on model but typically varies between soft through to firm and offers good body contouring as a comfort layer, replacing traditional springs in most instances.

19cm depth

A 19cm depth mattress is considered a fairly average size for the industry and is generally sufficient enough to house a decent support system and comfort layer. 19cm is not considered suitable for bunk beds as the depth is a little too thick and could cause the child to roll over the protected guide rail.

Medium support

A medium tension mattress like this is the goldilocks of mattress tensions. Not too soft, nor too firm, medium is typically suitable for the vast majority of people that are looking for a good nights sleep. If you are of average build without back or neck problems, this should be a suitable product. If you are of lower BMI and a side sleeper, consider a softer mattress, whereas if you are of a higher BMI and suffer neck and back pain, consider a firmer tension.

Medium Firm Support

Medium Firm is a tension that ranks around 7 out of 10 on the firmness scale. Where 5 is considered the standard average firmness, a 7 is slightly firmer. This tension is still largely suitable for the vast majority of people, especially those that like sleeping on their back, or, suffer from back/neck pain that requires a firmer feel.

Removeable AirFlo™ Cover

The AirFlo cover has some added benefits over your traditional damask outer protection, namely in its ability to regulate heat thanks to impressive airflow without compromising durability or comfort. The AirFlo benefits do not stop there however, with further in-roads in the areas of hygiene thanks to the cover being removable.

Reinforced Edges

Reinforced Edges provide a higher density area around the mattress supplying a stronger resistance to pressure.  As well as preventing the mattress from sagging and extending its lifespan the firmer edges give you extra usable space and edge to edge support.

No Need To Turn

This means that the product does not need to be turned over, but make no mistake, that is not the same as saying a product does not need to be rotated. If you do not want dips in your mattress with time, be sure to rotate evenly every month where possible

Vacuum Packed & Rolled

Vacuum packing and rolled mattresses now account for 26% of all consumer mattress purchases. Growing in popularity due to their almost identical performance to that of a normal mattress, these mattresses are able to be carried up tight stairways, picked up from the store and delivered much cheaper meaning those cost savings often get passed to the consumer. Well worth consideration, the idea that a rolled mattress is inferior has long been disproven, especially with the rise of bed-in-the-box retailers like Eve and Simba

No roll together

Specifically designed with roll together prevention in mind. This means the product likely has better quality internals and offers better support than other mattresses in the same price point.

Pressure Relieving

Due to the support structure in place within this mattress it advertises as benefiting from pressure relieving properties. The way a mattress can achieve this is through the use of a good quality spring system that can contour to the body, providing tension equally across all areas of the body dependant on sleeping position and pressure

Hypoallergenic

This product is unlikely to cause any sort of allergic reaction. Ideal if you suffer from any sort of allergy problems

NBF Approved Product

NBF stands for the National Bed Federation and is at the forefront of standards and legislation in the UK bed industry, these guys oversee the entire bedding industry with their mark and brand only being associated to those that follow a certain criteria of care and standards.
