Why our sleep experts loved it

Achieving a good night's sleep is as much about the pillow you choose as it is about your mattress or bed frame. The pillow is a sleep accessory that carries the weighty responsibility of cradling your head and neck, providing vital support, and ensuring comfort throughout the night. In this quest for the perfect slumber partner, Bensons for Beds, in collaboration with Staples & Co, have crafted a state-of-the-art pillow: the Staples & Co Cooling Fibre Pillow. Combining innovative technology and luxurious hypoallergenic fibres, this pillow offers a cooler, comfortable, refreshing sleep experience. But how good really is this offering from Staples & Co? Let's find out.

How We Tested

Our testing procedure was rigorous, spanning about three weeks. During this time, we used the pillow under various conditions, testing its support, firmness, comfort, and temperature regulation, among other factors. Notably, we focused on determining the pressure-activated cooling system's effectiveness, the so-called Reactex™ technology, that supposedly provides up to 6 hours of cooling relief.

Design and Features

The Staples & Co Cooling Fibre Pillow is exclusively designed for Bensons for Beds. It positions itself in the medium support category, promising to be a suitable choice for all - whether you're a side, front, or back sleeper. The aesthetically pleasing pillow also houses the breakthrough Reactex™ technology, which promises to regulate your temperature continuously while removing heat from your body during sleep. This technology is an exclusive offering to the UK market and aims to serve up to 6 hours of the cool, refreshing sensation that sleepers of all kinds will appreciate.

Construction

Underneath its luxurious surface, the pillow is generously filled with hypoallergenic fibres. For those battling allergies, this is a major win, keeping unwanted allergens at bay during your nightly rest. The hypoallergenic filling also provides a comfortable yet firm cushioning effect that supports your neck and alleviates pesky pains and aches. The Reactex™ technology's integration into the pillow construction is the proverbial cherry on the cake, delivering a cooler, more pleasant sleep experience.

Suitability

Given its medium firmness rating, the Staples & Co Cooling Fibre Pillow offers an agreeable balance of softness and support. Irrespective of your preferred sleeping position - be it side, front, or back - this pillow is equipped to take care of you. Its aptitude in holding your neck at a comfortable angle comes with the added advantage of alleviating common neck pains and discomfort. This makes it a good candidate for almost anyone's bedroom.

What Customers Thought

Reviews from customers point out the cooling feature's effectiveness and the pillow's overall comfort. However, a few customers voiced their reservations about the pillow's firmness, indicating that it might not be ideally suited for those who prefer softer pillows. Customers also had varied opinions on its cooling feature. While some found it to work as advertised, a few deemed it as hotter than a regular pillow. Despite these diverse reactions, it's important to remember that comfort and temperature are subjective, and what works for one may not work for others.

The Verdict

The Staples & Co Cooling Fibre Pillow seems to have achieved a commendable balance between comfort, support, and cooling. While the Reactex™ system effectively delivers a unique cooling experience, the pillow's hypoallergenic fibres offer adequate support for a comfortable night's rest. However, it would be wise for potential buyers to keep in mind the mixed reviews regarding the pillow's firmness and cooling operation. Ultimately, it's a product deserving of the investment, provided it aligns with personal preferences and comfort needs.

Lovely comfortable pillow and I wouldn't go back to my old one now. However i'm not sure how the 'cooling fibre' works, it seems hotter than a normal pillow to me. Quite pricey but it's very comfy and hopefully I won't be disappointed after more use.

Loved it at first but it was too firm unfortunately and gave me a rather bad neck! I've been using a tempur pillow before this and this just put my neck at a bad angle. Cooling wise it was great!
