Our Commitment to Accuracy
Sleep University is an educational platform built by the team at WantMattress,
the UK's independent mattress review and comparison site. Because sleep content is health-adjacent,
we hold ourselves to a high standard of accuracy and transparency. Every course is designed to educate,
not to diagnose or treat. If you have concerns about your sleep or health, please consult your GP or a qualified sleep specialist.
How Courses Are Developed
Each course follows a structured development process:
- Research phase — We review peer-reviewed literature from journals including Sleep,
the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, and Sleep Medicine Reviews, alongside NHS clinical guidelines
and guidance from the British Sleep Society.
- Drafting — Content is written by the WantMattress sleep content team, drawing on our
hands-on experience testing and reviewing hundreds of mattresses and sleep products since 2020.
- Expert review — Every course is reviewed by a second member of the team for factual accuracy,
clarity, and completeness before publication.
- Quiz validation — Quiz questions and answers are cross-referenced against source material
to ensure they test genuine understanding, not trivia.
Sources We Trust
We prioritise the following sources when developing course content:
- NHS guidelines — NHS Every Mind Matters and NHS clinical pathways for sleep disorders.
- Peer-reviewed journals — Including Sleep, JCSM, and Sleep Medicine Reviews.
We use DOI links where possible for traceability.
- Bed Advice UK — Consumer guidance from the National Bed Federation.
- British Sleep Society — Professional guidance and position statements.
- RAND Europe — Economic research on sleep deprivation in the UK.
We do not use content from competing mattress review or sleep advice websites as source material.
Where we reference statistics, we link to the original source.
How We Keep Content Current
Every published course displays a "Last updated" date. We review courses at least annually and update them
when new research is published, NHS guidelines change, or we receive feedback from learners identifying
inaccuracies. The date shown on each course page reflects the most recent substantive update,
not cosmetic changes.

Commercial Independence

or constructions, this is based on our independent testing experience at
WantMattress,
not commercial partnerships.
