Oakland 3 Drawer Filing Cabinet

A beautifully made piece of furniture, sturdy and with a lovely finish. It takes foolscap files although once the drawer is full the files are almost impossible to remove. This is because the filing run is crosswise (ie the hanging rails are at each side of the drawers rather than at the front and back, as is more usual). Contrary to previous comments the drawers still do not open to their full extent, even following an improvement to the design. Consequently you have to bend the files to get them out. Because of this design flaw I returned the item albeit regretfully because the quality was superlative. On a positive note, customer service is second to none and I received my alternative choice without quibble within three days.

Excellent quality and a lovely stylish finish. Cotswold staff very helpful when telephoned in giving information asked. They were also willing to send out wood samples if required to see both quality and matching. They were also willing, although we did not need this option to take item back if not suitable for our home. Only downside was the delivery times which they were inflexible on, which meant either a charge for a more suitable time slot or a delivery made with nobody at home - feel this in part is the delivery company they use, who like numerous other delivery companies always seem to give a vague morning only slot with no actual time or afternoon/flexible slot.

Decided to buy this 3 drawer cabinet as it looks so much nicer than a metal cabinet. I consider it was rather on the expensive side but wasnt prepared to wait for a price reduction. It arrived very well packaged and the delivery man helpfully advised us to unpack it upside down. However, there were no instructions enclosed and I had to ring up to find out how to release the transit locking mechanism (which is accessible from the bottom). I also didnt have any aftercare instructions. It would have been nice to have had a few suspension folders enclosed to start me off for the price I paid, but no matter. Just remember to buy foolscap size folders.

Lovely solid piece of furniture that sadly had to be returned due to a manufacturing fault. It turns out that only a percentage of the the stock is QC inspected before despatch! However, couldnt fault the delivery, customer service and communications were great. I was kept informed at all times from order through to delivery and the eventual return. My refund was processed in good time and this has given me faith with a view to possibly ordering from Cotswold again. The only criticism I have is that all this couldve been avoided if only the product was inspected before despatch.

Very pleased with the quality of furniture. Unfortunately less happy with the drawer mechanism. No instructions on how to open drawers first time and all three drawers were locked. After several attempts it seemed the only way I could get the middle drawer open was to pull it to the left. Then the others would open if I lightly shut the middle drawer.It would be useful to know how they should open.I decided to load files to each drawer and the weight of files seemed to help.It's a shame that a quality piece of furniture is let down by what should be a simple filing mechanism.

The general appearance of the cabinet is good; however, I only rated it 3 stars as the files have to be inserted sideways making it necessary to pull the drawer right out when accessing the contents of a file and are very difficult to take out. Filing cabinets are generally made for files to be inserted front to back but in this cabinet if you insert them in this way there is no room for the title tags. Obviously this is a design fault. I have kept the cabinet as it matches other furniture that I already have otherwise I would have returned it as not suitable for purpose.

This lovely cabinet replaces an old metal one which sits in our living room. It looks perfect and my suspension files from the old one fitted this new one. My only criticism is that the files do not glide very easily along the runners so I might need to put some grease or wd40 on. Fortunately i don't use the cabinet much on a day to day basis so I can live with this little niggle. Other than that very pleased. Delivery went well and I got a call to say when the driver would arrive. Recommend.

Functional piece of furniture. As other people have mentioned the files have to go in front to back but this is what allows it to be a narrower piece of furniture which we wanted. Seems sturdy and looks nice and fits in well with our other furniture. I like the fact the furniture is ready assembled which of course means it is more expensive. It arrived very well packed and without damage. Internally the woodwork is not as well finished.Still a nice piece of furniture.

The cabinet is lovely. Good colour and very substantial. It was a good price but I thought 14.99 for insurance to carry the cabinet 10 yards from the front door with no steps was excessive and you might want to check one of the comparison websites. This did not include taking the packaging away either - I would have been charged extra for that. Good job I am in good health! Delivery guys were good and kept me updated on delivery slot.

Lovely looking filing cabinet which was delivered promptly and very well packaged. I am pleased with it, my only criticism, which is a little niggle, is that the metal stripes which support the hanging files have no stoppers on the end which means the files slip off at the end and get caught at the back of the drawer! It's a really small issue but also annoying! I will have to make my own stopper! The cabinet looks great in my room.

Fab piece of furniture, really pleased with the quality and it looks lovely in my room. Matches my other furniture. Inside the draws the files fit perfectly, no catching on the other draws, plenty of room. Be aware the draws take foolscap files not A4 which is not a problem. Would use Cotswold again, no hesitation. Delivery as promised, with call prior, can't fault anything from start to finish. Fab company. Many thanks.

Not really the build quality rather the sizing. I have tried various brands of drop files and the drawers are quite frankly about 4 mm too small in the width. This is a pain as the whole purpose of buying this was to make filing easier. The drop files do not sit properly on the runner so stick and bend.I have now had to resort to buying plastic folders and put them in side ways, which rather defeats the objective. :(

The filing cabinet exceeded all expectations, it's much bigger than I thought it would be, very sturdy. It holds all the items I needed it for and more. I would definitely recommend this your looking for a quality item. I have mine in my living room, I store my printer on top, stationery bits in the top draw, the middle draw for my uni books and work, and bottom draw for my business documents. Very very please.

Order arrived later than forecast and wouldn't have been unpacked as per my order had I not pointed this out to the delivery team.The cabinet is well made with a good wood finish but slightly let down by a stiffness in the drawers opening and closing. Probably my fault for not checking the product more closely but I had expected the drawers to be capable of being locked but there is no key function to the cabinet.

I can't praise this desk highly enough! In fact the whole process of purchasing online, through Cotwold, was a pleasure. Excellent customer service, delivery was great and the desk is beautiful. Very well made and to a very high standard. Perfect because it comes ready made so could slot perfectly into my new office! I love it. Everyone comments on how lovely it looks. Makes working from home an absolute pleasure.

We are so pleased with our filing cabinet. It is a beautiful piece of furniture, very well built too. We've finally got our paperwork under control as there's plenty of space for lots of hanging files. We would definitely order again from Cotswold.Incidentally, our filing cabinet now fills the spot where our beloved Cocker spaniel used to have her bed so the cabinet is now known as Bridie's cabinet ??.

Excellent filing cabinet, in my front room with a lamp on that just fits in with the rest of my furniture without looking like a piece of an office. I think it's worth mentioning that you need foolscap sized suspension files for this, as I mistakenly brought A4 before realising my mistake as there was no info on what size was needed

Build Quality 5 Value for money 5 Design 3The only comment I have:is it would be so much better if the drawers pulled out another 50mm. It's difficult getting wallet files in out without having to bend them, particularly if they are full.I would be interested to hear your comments.Other than that I am extremely pleased with them.

Looks good in the office - and does what it is made for. My only comment, and reason for 4 stars, is that the runners are very basic and clunky - you'd expect good quality runners, and these are basic at best - you have to push the drawers shut. Good modern furniture should all have decent runners these days - no excuses!

Beautiful piece of furniture, fits in with the rest of the furniture. Delivered when told, was even asked if I would like a quicker delivery for no extra charge. Really nice filing cabinet, good and solid and far better than the typical metal ones. Just something to watch if you don't know to look out for it - during transit the drawers are locked in place, to unlock them you need to push the catch up from underneath the unit (front right-hand side).

This cabinet is good for purpose. It is stylish and compact and will look lovely in any room.It was delivered on time and the lads were very helpful.It is a good solid piece of furniture and I am delighted with it.I would certainly give the product 5 for both quality and value for money.

Cabinet externally good.Draw runners are cheap rubbish, and the hanging rails are too narrow for a standard foolscap suspended file. Also if there are tags on the files they catch when you open and shut the draws. Over all not terrible but certainly not durable office standard

A very handsome piece that sits nicely in my office - matches other furniture from some other oak furniture retailer - but they don't have a filing cabinet! Decent size - note that it uses foolscap suspension files not A4. We will be looking at Cotswold for future purchases.

It is a stylish piece of furniture but before I started using it the drawers stuck and I had to contact Customer Support to find out how to release them.Although this is a fairly simple procedure the problem has endured to a point where it is a repetitive frustration

Very pleased with my cabinet. It was very well protected on delivery and a trip to the town recycling centre was needed. The polystyrene cannot be recycled so why can't Cotswold take all packaging away and reuse it rather than cluttering up the planet with rubbish?

This is a sturdily built filing cabinet that lasts the extra mile. Its big enough to fill up with many bits of paperwork that we all dont need in our lives and keep it hidden in a functional but stylish package. If I ever wanted more paperwork Id buy another one.

Bookcase: Very pleased with bookcase, disappointed additional shelves were not available. Perhaps build instructions and fact the bookcase needs to be assembled on its back should be on the outside of the packaging. but as I said very pleased.

Lovely nest of tables. Very happy with the colour, quality etc. Check measurements carefully because the smallest table is tiny and you may be caught out! As it happens I don't mind but I didn't realise the smallest one was so small. Still very happy.

I'd ordered this to replace a similar item from another company which had to be returned when we unpacked it and found it broken. This cabinet was slightly more expensive but is better because the drawers have been made to be a filing cabinet.

Beautiful looking product, however when it was delivered it was badly damaged and we have had to wait several weeks for a replacement item to be sent out to us. Hopefully the replacement item will be faultless and meet out expectations.

Overall I am delighted with the filing cabinet although the wood on the bottom of the drawers is thinner than I expected. Ordering and delivery processes were simple and precise. I would consider the cabinet good value for money.

Very attractive piece of furniture I use it to store music in, as most shelves and drawers are too small, and it doesn't look out of place in the dining room next to the piano. The ordering and delivery process was very smooth.

Really nice little table. Looks a quality table, nice design and solidly built. In fact looks better in the flesh (wood) than it does in the catalogue.. Really pleased with it.

It does what it needs to, it stores files. However it looks elegant and fits in nicely with our other furniture and does not stand out like your conventional filing cabinet.

Lovely piece of office furniture, my only issue is it doesn't quite close and you have to really push the draws in to get it flush and that's before you fill it.

Just what we wanted unfortunately inside does come with rails but the standard dividers for filing cabinets do not fit so it's a bit of a problem!
